International Trade Minister: Future of Nafta at stake
Softwood dispute heats up

Last Updated Sat, 13 Aug 2005 12:43:44 EDT
CBC News

Canada's international trade minister has called his U.S. counterpart to demand the Americans return the $5 billion in duties they've collected in the softwood lumber dispute.

Jim Peterson warned U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman that the future of the North America Free Trade Agreement is in peril if the United States doesn't respect a ruling handed down by a NAFTA panel on Wednesday.

2. It is, indeed, heating up!
Thanks for posting this. CBC, CTV, Canada.com, are all covering this aspect. Martin better start playing hardball immediately, imo.

4. No, that's the "fuck the North American workers" agreement...
CAFTA and NAFTA do nothing for workers anywhere.
