Curious to know what fellow Brits thought of the Democratic Convention...
... which BBC Parliament, bless 'em, covered via C-Span.

Obviously, the difference in political cultures hits you between the eyes - you wouldn't get so much dressing up, humour or a funky band at a sedate old UK conference - and the mood was studiously non-controversial but I enjoyed the atmosphere and many of the speakers. Favourites - besides Kerry by whom I was much impressed - were Barak Obama, Al Sharpton and Max Cleland.

Other thoughts???

1. Didn't watch it...
Don't watch P'ment at the best of times...

Anyway, if this blog is even 1/2 accurate, I don't think there'd be much change if Kerry wins...

2. Guess Kerry has lost the massive US Marxist-Leninist vote then?
I think Naomi Klein puts the left-wing sceptic position a lot better.

The other day, I was ranting to a friend about Kerry's vicious support for the apartheid wall in Israel, his gratuitous attacks on Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and his abysmal record on free trade. "Yeah," he agreed sadly. "But at least he believes in evolution." So do I - the much-needed evolution of our progressive movements. And that won't happen until we put away the fridge magnets and Bush gags and get serious. And that will only happen once we get rid of the distraction-in-chief. So Anybody But Bush. And then let's get back to work.
