Adverts on Democratic Underground |
|
Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 05:30 AM by Mr Creosote
For some reason my browser has started signing me off whenever I close it. So when I looked at the UK forum this morning I could see the adverts that don't appear when signed in. At the bottom of the David Davis thread was an advert for the Youtube channel of the Church of Scientology. I don't want to be even a very minor part of any internet community that advertises a dangerous cult. So I'm off.
PS: so having decided to flounce off David Davis-style I now find that I don't know how to delete myself. Does anybody else know?

1. Why don't you let Skinner know what's happening? |
|
It may be that it's something that can be blocked if DU admins know. My browser has been keeping me essentially permanently signed-in, so I hadn't been aware of this.
I definitely wouldn't want to lose you from the community if there's anything that can be done about it! (now David Davis is another matter!)

2. Indeed - I'll bring this up,but anyone can send email to the admins |
|
about adverts they think are unsuitable - the adverts are primarily handled by a separate company, but it's possible for DU to say certain ones are unsuitable, I think - but admin need to be told about them.
To Mr Creosote - please don't leave because of this.

I'll email Skinner then. But this is non-negotiable for me - if they can't / won't stop it I'm off.

5. How much control do sites have over what ads are displayed? |
|
Wasn't this discussed awhile back in GD?
Me, I like clicking on stuff like that when I see it, because every click costs the advertiser money.
