3. I think Cornwall should be free....
...free of the Wurzels that is!
And now for I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key, just for the heck of it!

http://www.scbd.connectfree.co.uk/flops/combine-harvester.html

I drove my tractor to your haystack last night (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
I threw me pitchfork at your dog to keep quiet (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Now something's telling me that you'll confide in me (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Come on now darling, you've got something I need.

'Cos I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Come on now, let's get together in perfect harmony;
I've got twenty acres and you've got forty-three,
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.

(She made I laugh, ha-ha!)

I'll stick by you, I'll give you all that you need (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
We'll have twins and triplets, I'm a man built for speed (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
And you know I'll love you darling, so give me your hand (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
But the thing I want the most is all the acres of land.

'Cos I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Come on now, let's get together in perfect harmony;
I've got twenty acres and you've got forty-three,
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.

(Phwoar, she's a lovely bit of stuff and all.)

For seven long years I've been alone in this place (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Pigs sleep in the kitchen, it's a proper disgrace (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Now if I cleaned it up, would you change your mind? (ooh-aah ooh-aah)
I'll give up drinking scrumpy and that lager and lime.

'Cos I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Come on now, let's get together in perfect harmony;
I've got twenty acres and you've got forty-three,
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.

(Who loves you baby?)

Weren't we a grand couple at that last Wurzel dance?
I wore brand new gaiters and me corduroy pants, ha-ha-haa!
In your new Sunday dress with your perfume smelling grand,
We had our photos took and usholding hands!

Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Now that we mow past our hedges I think that you and me
Should stop this gallivanting, and will you marry me?
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.

(Arr, you're a fine-looking woman and I can't wait to get me hands on your land, a-ha-ha!)

2. It is time for a Hebridean Nationalist Party!
After all, Edinbrugh has been oppressing the Scottish Gaels for the best part of a millennium.

7. And then people in Caithness would decide Inverness was oppressing them
then people in Thurso would start accusing Wick of taking all the revenue, then the north end of Thurso would start to get jealous of the south end, pretty soon Jack McTavish declares independence from his flatmate Lachie for taking all the Hobnobs - then Jack's left arm starts getting uppity. WHERE WILL IT ALL END?!!!!

6. There a couple of tiny English parties
I think that one is called the 'English Democrats'; but I'd guess these are right leaning, whereas both the S.N.P. and Plaid Cymru are left-wing.

9. The English Democrats
They stood at the Euro elections and their platform is very much along UKIP/Veritas lines, very much a right wing party. Here's their website just in case.

11. I went to the website out of some morbid curiosity...
...and I saw: "Gary Bushell to stand as English democrat candidate".

I promptly closed the web browser window.

8. The Nats have a good shot at 7 or 8 seats.
Dundee East should be in the bag, and Dundee West is losing Ernie Ross as MP, so that may well end up a close Lab/SNP fight. The Western Isles are pretty close between those two, and the new Dumfries seat should be an interesting three-way between the Nats, Labour and the Cons. The SNP should also hold/pick up (depending on how you look at it) the Ochil/South Perthshire seat.

10. Plaid kick off campaign with rugby theme
The Welsh nationalist party Plaid Cymru today took a cue from the country's all-conquering rugby team to launch their election campaign.

Fifteen Plaid MPs and Welsh assembly members posed for photographs dressed in Welsh rugby jerseys as the party president, Dafydd Iwan, called the party "the only team that plays and wins for Wales".

12. OK. A protest vote for one of the "whole-UK" parties ...
... LibDems, Greens, Respect... don't agree but I can see where you're coming from.

But voting for a separatist party? Is that really our agenda?

13. I am always suspicious of separatist parties
I've always considered the concept of separatism to be unnecessary except in the cases of civil rights issues or where there is a democratic deficit. Realistically, for the U.K. to split up would be to no one's economic benefit despite the SNP's claims. Also, as a Socialist I am naturally suspicious of nationalism.

I am confused by Plaid Cymru in particular. Are they for independence or just for more autonomy? Or are they really for independence, but just pretend otherwise to get more votes?

I am also confused that the separatist parties say that they're "internationalist".

In a General Election, I would consider voting tactically for Plaid or the SNP in the constituency to make sure the Tories don't win - but that would have to be a last resort.

14. My other concern about the Nats ...
... is that they seem to be a very, very broad coalition yoked together only by their extreme Nationalism. They are no more likely to be Socialist or Liberal in Power than they are Conservative.

Let us not forget that the SNP's opponents tend to dub them, "Tartan Tories."

15. The SNP are anything but Tories,
they were nicknamed Tartan Tories, because a "vote for the SNP is a vote for Maggie". The same "argument" trotted out as a reason to hold one's nose & vote Labour, rather than the Lib Dems in this election.

In general apart from the independance thing it's pretty tough to tell the difference between SNP & Labour.

Though I would tend to say, the SNP tend to promise more (without explanations of how they would deliver). I particularly liked them suggesting that when Scottish Water was £2billion in debt, the SNP suggested they should borrow more money. (btw how can a service for 5 million people end up £2 billion in debt?)

16. Credit to the SNP
I am not fan of their platform but credit where credit is due: They have a very strong anti-racist stance. They are very good at keeping the extreemists out of their party.

Also, they are the real reason Scotland is a Tory free zone.
