semi-non political question here
Why the bloody hell can't I get prawn crisps and Rowntree's Fruit Pastilles anymore? My local British store owner is upset, too. For some reason, it's just crisps and the specific brand of Rowntree's Fruit Pastilles that can't come through customs. I've even tried ordering online, but can't get them that way, either.

Weird.

1. Prawn crisps are obviously a terrorist threat.

2. The CIA has finally realised that the Jospeh Rowntree Foundation
is a commie pinko liberal front that is bent on undermining capitalism and the God-fearing destiny of the USA to make money out of every single being in the entire world.

And I think Dubya was molested by a prawn when he was a kid.

3. It's a belated response to "The Pretzel Incident" ...
The powers-that-be noticed the vicious attack on the US president by
a dedicated pretzel and, after careful consideration of the evidence,
decided to ban an unrelated range of products.

(cf. Arabs flying into tall buildings and subsequent decision to bomb
the shit out of Afghanistan & Iraq.)

4. They may contain ingredients...
flavourings or colourings that are illegal in the US. It could be that somebody is intercepting your candy.

5. hilarious responses, folks
The crisps are unable to be obtained, apparently, because customs takes so damned long. They'd be stale by the time they hit the west coast.

Pastilles, though? Bastards.

6. Well, it's like this...

To avoid national embarrassment - which could well aid the terrorists - the CIA are slowly phasing out things Dubya hasn't heard of.

7. RogueTrooper's Response is correct
I contacted a British candy importer here and they said

"its to do with the colours used in the manufacturing process not being
approved by the FDA"
