Police investigate Saudi link to London attacks
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 06:36 PM by fedsron2us
Scotland Yard is investigating evidence that the two waves of terrorist attacks on London this month may have been masterminded from Saudi Arabia.

The Metropolitan Police anti-terrorist squad has learnt that Hussain Osman, 27, one of the suspects for the second failed attacks, called a number in Saudi Arabia hours before his arrest in Rome on Friday. He was believed to be making only the most vital calls because he feared his mobile phone was being tracked by investigators.

Meanwhile the Sunday Times report that one of the other suspects Muktar Ibrahim may have visited Saudi Arabia as long ago as 2003

This Saudi/Pakistan axis is very reminiscent of the 9/11 attacks on the US. Needless to say so far there is not a shred of evidence to suggest any Iraqis were involved. On past form I suppose we can expect Bush and Blair to start manipulating the evidence to try to convince us that we must attack Iran, Venezuela or some other country with no link to the bombings but plenty of oil.

1. I think we should bring democracy to their country.
That'll put a stop to all this nonsense.

2. It seems that the West tolerate Saudi Arabia

because of money and the "free market".

I was never a fan of Saddam's cruel rule but I think his secular, partial-welfare state had more redeeming qualities than Saudi Arabia's hardline social-authoritarian religious capitalist state.

It doesn't surprise me that neoliberals in Europe and neoconservatives in the U.S. see the "free market" as a higher-esteemed attribute than public services and gender egalitarianism.

3. Which is presumably why we're setting up a
savage-yet-cooperative client theocracy in Iraq, it worked so well in Saudi. When does it get its "Orange Revolution"? Oh, no, hang on, it won't get one because the CIA won't fund it.
