Support suspended SSP MSP's
I tried posting this in the GD area but it just sank like a stone.

Brief resume:

In the build up to the G8 the authorities kept on 'banning' and 'unbanning' the march to Gleneagles and, even though the Scottish Parliament had earlier supported the right to protest, it started messing around too.

Four SSP MSP's held a five minute protest in the chamber and were suspended without pay for a month by the other members. Their staff are all suspended without pay as well.

MPs banned for defending the right to protest and free speech. It's important that we complain or this could become a regular occurence.

3. I'm ashamed of myself for saying so but I don't know a lot ...
... about this issue.

Do you have any urls of places where I could access more information?

7. I think it was unwise to hold a demonstration inside the chamber
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 09:23 AM by Anarcho-Socialist
Although the march of Gleneagles should have been allowed.

I'm confused by why the SSP decided to disrupt chamber proceedings, it just gave the other parties an excuse to punish them.

I'm sorry, but I don't hold much sympathy for a stunt by a group of pseudo-socialists north of the border.

8. Fair enough
If your sense of principle prevents you from standing with comrades, it's your business.
