Fraud victims despair at parole for 'Goldfinger'
By Michael Horsnell

WHEN John “Goldfinger” Palmer was cleared at the Old Bailey in 1987 of melting down gold from the £26 million Brinks-Mat bullion robbery he blew a kiss to detectives.

Now he is blowing a stream of them at the Parole Board for his release from jail four years into an eight-year sentence for a subsequent £30 million timeshare fraud.

To the consternation of his creditors, who are still owed millions, Palmer, 55, has swapped his cell at High Down prison in Surrey for the isolated £2 million “cottage” in Langton’s Wood near Brentwood, Essex, where he lives with Christina Ketley, his girlfriend.

Sheltered behind security gates and cameras, the former West Country jeweller declined to answer questions via the intercom as dogs barked from the extensive grounds.
