Football results...tonight, so far
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 04:01 PM by ...of J.Temperance
Falkirk 2, Partick Thistle 1 :(

Stranraer 3, Dundee 1 :)

Leyton Orient 0, Luton 2 :(

MK Dons 0, Norwich 0 (x-time being played. MK Dons just missed a pen.)

Portsmouth 1, Aston Villa 1 (aw, come on Pompey!)

Sunderland 1, Manchester City 2.

Bristol City 2, Barnet 3.

Ipswich 0, Yeovil 1.

Plymouth Argyle 2, Peterborough 1 :)

Scunthorpe 2, Tranmere Rovers 1 :(

And so it goes...

Lockdown asked me the other day, are there complications when certain teams play each other? Well, yes, it's happening tonight:

Ipswich vs Yeovil.

Not like I'm not tryin', I've got a downpayment on a trailer and I'm hanging around with Rush and scoring Hillbilly Heroin off him.

12. Hope you got a Ford truck to park at the end of the trailer.
And here in Florida, you need to keep a stock of blue tarps for hurricaine damage.

Housekeeper of the year is the one with the least amount of rust on the trailer axle.

WAIT WAIT.... I am watching this soccer game and less than two hours into the match someone actually scored a point. Player fell down and the ball accidently dribbled past into the net. wow...Lets watch that replay some more.

17. Ford Truck
Well I'm planning on becoming a Hillbilly Heroin dealer, then I can get that Ford Truck ;)

Probably not Florida, outside Baton Rouge or Huntsville, Al. I'm thinking of...so I'll still have to look out for blue tarps.

I've made a note: Housekeeper of the year.

Football, some games end 0-0. But, stick with it, it's the Beautiful Game.

34. Are we talking about fooseball ??? I mean real football
has touchdowns, fieldgoals..... And they count 6 points and 3 points each so we can have bigger scores.

14 to 7, that just seems to have the potential for many more clips on ESPN, than 2 to 1.
And besides, it is fast moving. It only takes 3 1/2 hours to play a 60 minute game.

35. Oh heck
I can't understand American football, it's TOO complicated. I like baseball though, SF Giants.

3 1/2 hours to play a 60 minute game...I can go for that :)

I don't get ESPN, I get NASN, on at present are the Braves vs the Cubs. That also takes 3 1/2 hours to play a 60 minute game.

I notice you like NASCAR...and softball.

Bristol City :(

Ipswich vs Yeovil. I've got a soft spot for both, but I'm VERY glad Yeovil won, because it's taken them a long time to get into a proper League, so for that reason, well done Yeovil!

Kudos Mr. McCarthy, still a perfect record in the top flight.

And 18 Premiership defeats in a row for Sunlun... will they beat the 2002/03 all-time Premiership record low of 19 points, their very own record? Best of luck to them in their plucky endeavours.

;)

Owen will probably go back to Liverpool, now a place has been made vacant by Milan Barras leaving.

Big Dunc, oh I do think he's FAB! Everton play Villa Real tomorrow, I HOPE they win, they haven't been in Yurp playing in a Yurpean cup for yonks, it'll be such a shame if they go out in the Qualifiers.

20. Probably
I read Owen was leaving any move till the last day of the transfer window for tax reasons (what else eh), may be rubbish, but it must be back to Liverpool whenever it is.

Ferguson was mostly injured at Newcastle, pity, type you love when he's playing for you. He has a habit of scoring screaming goals against Man Utd whoever he plays for, and the way he intimidates defenders makes Joe Jordan look like Owen. Quite funny watching big hard men run away from him on the pitch!

Yurp.. hah. Everton won't pay anyone more than 70 shillings a week, they'll probably get knocked out the UEFA Cup by some Icelandic fishermen or something. Every decent player knocks them back, the fans say it's because Everton's too big for them... they're as bad as Man City fans (Oasis, say no more) with their Big Club whining. ;)

Anyway, I shouldn't just go on about the Ferrari league... how do you think your grassroots teams will do, all 30 of them?

29. Ok, thanks - I just wondered since when I first looked in it
was pretty much all politics..

I have nothing against humorous or light discussion, folks, just seeking guidance as to whether this was really the place for it. Having received that guidance, I see that it is..

I'm sorry if I've caused offence - I had no intention of doing that.

I will admit to a sharp distaste for football, though! Blech!

if I was harsh, just felt a bit sensitive about it personally given my posts lately. No offence intended here either, I appreciate your point and it is serious discussion that brings me here first, just I've needed a bit light relief lately! As we all do. :) Here's to balance.

fwiw, you've made comments in serious threads that made me laugh (laughing with, while making relevant points), so my comment wasn't entirely accurate. ;)

Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 09:27 PM by lockdown
Can't serious and light-hearted coexist? It's not like there's so much UK traffic that political threads are flying off the front page.

So long as political/serious threads aren't disrupted, where's the harm?

Not only have the FA turned down his appeal, they've added an extra match to it (now 4) because of the "frivolous" nature of the appeal.:(
