1st innings lead of 259 for England- I know England have repeatedly shown they can blow any match from any position (although not so much lately), but it's looking very good for Vaughan & co....

1. Pardon my ignorance, but is this in reference to a cricket match? |
|
Just curious. I don't know of many sports where one team can be leading the other by that much, and you did mention "innings".... :)

England may have made a bad decision here. If OZ survive for the rest of today and most of tomorrow, England will have to face Warney on a deteriorating pitch. I am no fan of either team but England's bowling has really improved. OZ is not an easy team to wilt. They will fight big time here.

7. that crossed my mind, too |
|
I'm not certain it's the right decision- to be honest I think the psychological implications (for both teams) of making the Aussies do something they haven't done in so long may have swung it for Vaughan as much as anything.

10. Valid point and of course the Barmy Army |
|
is making a lot of noise for the home boys. Still, OZ won't go down without a big fight.

6. Looking good for whom? |
|
Australia will lose this match and they will go on to lose the Ashes. Our bowling is atrocious, and the top order batsmen are all out of form.
I knew we were in trouble when they FINALLY dropped Jason Gillespie, only to replace him with Michael Kasprowicz, who's playing just as badly at the moment.

...with Kasprowicz in for the injured McGrath.
The thing that worries me is that, despite England's tendency to do well in the first innings, we have had a bad habit in this series of letting the Aussies get back into it in the second innings.
