Paddy Ashdown a spook? (and other Mi6 agents)
Another list of purported Mi6 agents has been posted to usenet & picked up by Cryptome. FWIW, this one features Paddy Ashdown.

http://cryptome.org/mi6-list2.htm

Cryptome has made a list combining all 3 releases of supposed spooks showing where names have been duplicated:

http://cryptome.org/mi6-list-276.htm

Suspects for the first leak included ex-mI6 agent Richard Tomlinson & Mohammed Al-Fayed. Both have denied it, though it is interesting to note that the first leak went to EIR, a Larouche publication, which has worked closely with Al-Fayed on stories about the Royal family and in particular Diana's death.

1. Good old Pants-down working for M.I.6?
Though if it came from anywhere near Mohammed Fayed I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole.

2. Apparently Paddy as Mi6 has been muted before
After all, he had been a Labour supporter as a marine, before he joined the Liberal party in 1975 - at which time he is popularly supposed to have been serving with MI6 in Geneva under the cover of being the first secretary to the UK mission to the UN.

3. Wonder if the Grauniad will do a followup on this one..
Given that the Padster is a national figure of sorts it should be newsworthy, if they thought the last list was credible enough to report.

The two recemt lists could well be from the same source (identical posting MO, as you can see from more options -> original message in the google news interface, plus (according to the cryptome summary) there are no duplicated names between the two new lists) - though of course that could be just what they want us to think... :tinfoilhat:

Incidentally, the link posted in the OP was to the Aug 21st list - the new one (with Ashdown) is at http://cryptome.org/mi6-list3.htm
