TIME TO MARCH!!!! THE EVENT OF THE CENTURY THIS SAT
Okay folks - this is it. It is time for the shit to hit the fan. And if it doesn't, we have no right to complain in 2008 when another election is stolen.
Will an Ohio recount overturn the election results & put Kerry in office? Frankly I doubt it, but it sure would be nice. That is not the most important issue here. That is just a short-term, instant gratification kind of goal. We are talking about a much bigger picture.
We are talking about whether or not we will ever trust our 'democracy' again, whether we will ever believe that our votes count. We are talking about whether we will allow these United States of America to become a fascist state (some may argue that is already the case).
We need to make our flawed election system the biggest issue in our country. It is so fundamental, so huge and so obvious that no one will touch it. For mainstream media to really address this, well, it would rock this country in a huge way. It is much easier to deny that it is happening.
But we here know it is! Whether you believe Madsen or not, whether you believe this theory or that theory or this statistic or that...almost everyone here acknowledges that FRAUD IS REAL! And it happened AGAIN!!!!
Remember why we fought so hard to get Bush out of office? For many, the fight really was about getting Kerry IN office, but, in my 2 months here at DU, the unifying theme is that Bush and his posse are DANGEROUS. And SHADY. And maybe even flat-out EVIL.
Where is the fire? Where is that passion that drove us out to canvass our neighbors, call out to our community, put bumper stickers on our cars that got us spit on? Where is the spark that lit us up to GOTV in ways most of us had never imagined?
THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO GIVE UP! We have to keep our passion strong and make this the most important issue in our public lives!!!

WE HAVE TO GET OUT ON THE STREETS AND SCREAM AND SHOUT AND MAKE THE CAMERAS FILM US!!!
WE HAVE TO GO TO COLUMBUS THIS SATURDAY!

SO WHO'S WITH ME?????

RALLY! "Investigate all 88 counties, Litigate, Re-Count, Recuse”

Saturday, December 4th,
Columbus, OH
1:00 PM,
Ohio Statehouse Lawn
East Broad & South High Streets,
Columbus, Ohio

We demand that every vote be counted accurately from the Nov 2nd election. We demand a full re-count of Ohio's votes and a thorough investigation of all reported irregularities and discrepancies and charges of voter disenfranchisement throughout the state. The right to vote is a civil right and in a democracy no abridgement of that right can be tolerated. In Kiev, hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are on the streets, staying there overnight in the bitter cold, bringing the government to a halt and the world to attention, refusing to let democracy die. There are people coming to Ohio from all over the country for this rally. Let’s do this.

SPEAKERS:
Greg Palast (journalist and author of The Best Democracy Money Can Buy),
Bill Moss (former Columbus school board member),
Bob Fitrakis (Columbus Free Press),
Reuben Herrera (Adelante - Latino/Latina Democrats),
Anita Rios (Green Party),
Cliff Arnebeck (lead litigant in the Contest of Election suit),
Jad Hummeidan (Council on American Islamic Relations),
Petey Talley (Ohio AFL-CIO) (invited),
Charleta Tavares (Columbus City Council member) (invited)

3. Posted this in another rally thread but...
So we all know about the protest for the recounting and fraud efforts in the afteroon and the seminar thing going on in early evening....

I thought it might be useful to point out that this Saturday is Gallery Hop here in Columbus. The one right before Christmas is a HUGE event. The Short North area just north of downtown will be packed with people. It might be useful to make up some literature and go distributing amongst the throngs there. Also, for anyone interested in gay rights issues, the HRC is planning a march to protest the passage of the anti-gay marriage amendment here in Ohio.

There's some info at the Free Press site but I know more is out there on the web...

If anyone needs more Columbus info, send me a message!

Title is: UUs should COUNT THE VOTES AND MAKE THE VOTES COUNT

Letter is: An open letter to UUs in Ohio: On page 13 of the November/December UU World Magazine you can read about voting fraud. In Ohio you can open your front door and see questions about voting fraud and voting irregularities face to face. While Jesse Jackson has walked to the front of the bus to question the voting process in Ohio, Unitarian Universalists everywhere have been silent. Suffice it say that this is NOT an UU tradition! The mainstream media has not covered the concerns about the vote this does not mean that UUs shouldn’t be concerned!

Voters across America urge Ohio UUs and the entire Unitarian Universalist Association to volunteer for the recount in Ohio, to make a statement to the press concerning the vote in Ohio and other states which suffered significant voting irregularities, and to get involved with making every vote count. The League of Women Voters, the General Accounting Office, Common Cause, and many other organizations see enough voting irregularities to be cause for concern. Unitarian Universalists should too. American voters who can’t be in Ohio also urge UUs to attend the following rally.

19. Common Cause Dec 7th meeting
I'm new and sadly can't attend the Dec 4the march but does anyone know about this? It sounds like they are just going to talk but I'm not sure. This was sent to me after I signed a petition.
I took out the part about requesting donations cause it was sent in error.

26. Common Cause meeting
I was thinking about attending too. I have nothing to offer by way of evidence, but holding up a sign demanding an audit may help. Would anyone on DU be up for a protest outside the meeting?

PLEASE stop going on about the whole blogwar between Bev and Oberman. Concentrate on those freepeydeep neocon windbags who are probably giggling it up right now.

They probably want to distract us from the protest that is happening this weekend. It probably scares them more than anything. Imagine how embarrasing it would be for them if we turn out numbers similar to the Ukraine.

34. Anyone in Illinois who needs a ride can ride with us.
I'm about an hour south of Chicago and have room for 3 people. It takes 6 hours to drive from here to Columbus (my repuke sister-in-law lives there :() and we would have to leave here around 4-5-6 A.M. to allow time to get lost ;), find a place to park and get to the rally. You can drive here or if you're along the way, I can meet you somewhere. We will probably drive home that night.

A side note. My son is home sick from school today. IF he feels OK on Saturday, we can go. Also, I am having a medical procedure done tomorrow and a lot depends on the results of that and how I feel on Saturday. I suspect I will be fine. I should know by tomorrow night whether or not I can go. If you're interested in a ride and don't mind a last minute (Friday night) decision, then PM me and we can set it all up.
