Why is diversity frowned upon out here?
I don't understand why everyone turns on each other out here. I see veteran DU members calling each other quitters or whiners and newbies Freepers or trolls.

Tonight, I was called a troll/Freeper after saying in a post that I see why Bev rubbed someone the wrong way but she was legally obligated to defend her mark. I honestly can't tell if I'm suspicious because I said she should have been nice or because I said she was doing her duty -- it depends on who didn't like that I wasn't 100% behind him/her.

I came here because it was where the best fraud information was coming from when they shut down the ABC board on the election (I used to blog there because you had a chance to get ABC's attention...). I find less tolerance here, in some ways, than at mixed (Dem & Rep) boards.

Is this place always like this?

1. I'm a newby too, but I have noticed it getting a lot worse
I do think there are freepers, but I don't think they are necessarily always the ones with the low post counts.

2. Well, much of this fighting would have been avoided
if Kerry was challenging the outcome. We can't get attention because we can't overcome the argument that "Even the candidate says he lost."

5. This is an extremely frustrating position for people who are aware
of the fraud to be in. The MSM pretends that it does not exist when there is as much if not MORE information that points to fraud then there was in 2000. On the other hand, if Kerry were to come out, in all likelihood the republican officials and courts would prevent the truth from being known like they did in 2000. So, everyone is hoping for a smoking gun without having to have Kerry's name dragged through the mud, like Al Gore, who Should be president right now.

3. From what I can tell, as a new member...
EVERYONE IS FRUSTRATED LIKE NEVER BEFORE!!! One month ago we progressives thought this four-year nightmare would end. I'm sure we were all anxiously awaiting the joy of Bush's concession speech. Then it was all stolen from us. Tensions are high and we are VERY ANGRY right now, as we should be. Bickering is inevitable in times like these.

4. Right now, there is a lot of anger and betrayal.
Anger that we do have freepers that pee all over the board.
There is a sense of betrayal that after Edwards said they would fight, Kerry then seemingly cut us off at the knees.

I believe it will get better, eventually.

6. This will sound stupid, but how can you tell?
I can tell when they've got 3 posts and say "get over it." But many times I just see diverse opinions that end up in freeper name calling.

7. There is an inexplicable rhythm to this place
Some days and weeks are better than others. We have a great many new folks joining in now. Some may be feeling a little disoriented with all the new names. (We also just went through a major Screen Name change amnesty period which is confusing in itself) With all the new persona's here we are not in synch this week.

It will get better---It seems to always do that. The jerks will be cut off or at least you'll learn who is a buddy and who isn't. It's just like any community or family. When one person gets "sick" it seems to spread.

Drink some tea, relax but keep coming back---You'll find a home here. :)

10. the real possibility of people logging on

to float silly ideas, undermine DU, discourage and dismantle serious efforts to productively address election 2004 makes this suspicious "bickering" more understandable, in my view.

I'm new here also, and I understand that it'd be strange and difficult to see a lot of new people who don't seem to share, uphold, and contribute to the common interest of DU.

I mean, I'd be suspicious of me, too....and I wouldn't want me-- or anybody else-- to storm in and make baseless claims or shout out all the reasons why the "election is over."
