Has anyone written John Kerry to thank him?
Just curious. I did. I don't remember seeing a thread on this. Maybe I missed it. If so, please disregard my question.

He turned the boat around and came back for us. He stuck his toe in. Why? I don't care. He heard us. That deserves a "thanks."

Before you all flame me saying that he never should have conceded in the first place, I gotta say, I hoped like hell something would change in Ohio, before the recount, but it hasn't. The media nightmare that would have ensued would have been awful. So glad it didn't happen, and that it's been diffused for a couple of weeks.

The game, however, is on. Toenail or not, the word, "Kerry" was mentioned last night in reference to a recount. Wow.

Thanks, John! I was drowning and I'm glad you saw me in the water!

Just feeling happy, for no good reason, wanted to share.

14. Me too.
I had really been trying to get a grip on my grief and my anger today. I went to the doctor today for another reason and found myself sobbing in his office about the election. It permeates every thing I do. I left with some anti-depressant samples today and a recheck very soon. I wonder how many of my health issues right now are due to depression and repressed rage?

He IS my President and I appreciate him. Now, get out there John and make it happen for US!

42. Hugs on the way!
Remember, the last thing let out of Pandora's box of miseries was the beacon of hope. This is no little thing, it's what keeps everyone going and what can help turn awful experiences into better days. Hang in there!

Sen. Kerry, despite some of the negative comments on DU, is anything but a quitter. I remember two years ago when it got out that he had prostate cancer. (What a thing to find out on Christmas!) He asked for, and got, the most agressive treatment available to combat this disease. And he got over it and got beyond it and did make the run for the presidency. Bad things happen to people (and countries, I guess!) Don't give up. Drink in the support of friends and come back and try again. It's the only thing that ever truly matters.

26. This was a special case (but they all are)
Marine Lance Cpl. Dimitrios Gavriel was a 29 year old college grad who was working on Wall Street when 9/11 happened. He lost several friends in the attack. He decided to give up his very lucrative career and enlist. His parents said that he wanted to do what he could to defend his country. A very special and noble man, he entered the service as a grunt and deserves every honor. His Greek immigrant parents elected to have him buried in Arlington National Cemetery, a tribute to a brave soldier.

I vehemently disagree with waging the Iraq war. I couldn't be sadder about this death or more proud of my fellow MA resident. I am also very proud of my Sen. for attending this sorrowful event. It's nice to know that someone marks this passing and pays it the attention it deserves.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Lance Cpl Dimitrios Gavriel.

John Kerry is such a good and decent man. He's not AWOL(like the big texas coward), he's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. I have faith in John Kerry and can't imagine anything other than his presidency on January 20.

Thanks for the picture.

12. No, Delaware County
but, go ahead and thank him for the $250K also, while you're at it.

The campaign joined the lawsuit to force Delaware County, Ohio to comply with the recount request, and challenge their intent to "sit it out" as they decided they would.

And, thank you for reminding everyone that saying 'thank you' is often a good way to encourage them to take the next -- in this case, the bravest act Senator Kerry will have ever taken since he put himself between someone else and a bullet.

Peace.

Trying to build a focus on what those members of the US Senate and House of Representatives who are dedicated to our Constitution must do before 6 Jan 2005.

Hopeful that the diligent efforts of Mr Arnebeck and so many others will establish a massive brief for a variety of legal actions at the State and Federal level and that, plus all the other documentation, will be sufficient for Senator Kerry to stand on and exclaim 'Halt.'

Quite interesting responses today regarding Mr Arnebeck on c-span -- I think we've got millions of our fellow citizens ready to launch! All Senator Kerry has to do is push the button.

Keep up all your productive efforts and thanks.

Peace.

23. Subject: IT'S OFFICIAL - KERRY IS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kerry campaign keeping eye on Ohio cases

By JOHN McCARTHY
Associated Press Writer

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- John Kerry's campaign has joined a lawsuit by third-party presidential candidates seeking a recount in Ohio. A lawyer for the campaign said Thursday the campaign does not question the Democrat's loss but wants any counting to take place statewide.

Kerry's campaign this week joined the suit filed by Green and Libertarian party candidates seeking a recount of the vote in Delaware County. A judge in that county issued a restraining order blocking that request, but the order expired Thursday. A hearing is set in federal court in Columbus on Friday on the recount request.

"The Kerry-Edwards campaign felt it had to intervene," said Daniel Hoffheimer, a Cincinnati lawyer who represents the campaign in Ohio. "We did not want a recount to go forward if it only was 87 (of Ohio's 88) counties."

The two minor parties also have asked for a statewide recount, but a judge ruled that cannot begin until Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell certifies the vote, likely on Monday. The parties say they have raised the $113,600 fee the state requires to conduct the recount.

The Kerry campaign isn't disputing the outcome of President Bush's Nov. 2 victory in Ohio - a 136,000-vote margin, based on unofficial results - but wants to make sure any recount is "done accurately and completely," Hoffheimer said.

Hoffheimer said he knew of no other challenge by the campaign to the national election results. Bush won the national popular vote by about 3 percentage points, but Ohio's 20 electoral votes would have been enough to turn the race for Kerry.

Meanwhile, a lawyer representing a group alleging fraud in the Ohio presidential election put off until at least Friday the filing of a challenge to the results. Cliff Arnebeck, who alleges that votes intended for Kerry were shifted to Bush, said his legal team needed more time to collect and analyze evidence. He said the filing could take place as late as Monday.

In another development, Rep. John Conyers Jr., D-Mich., sent a letter to Blackwell asking for his assistance in a House Judiciary Committee Democratic staff investigation of "election irregularities." That probe would be in addition to one sought by the Congressional Budget Office.

Complaints received by congressional Democrats include disparities in vote totals for Democrats on the same ballot; too few voting machines in urban, Democrat-leaning precincts; and organized campaigns directing voters to the wrong polling place.

A message seeking comment was left for Blackwell spokesman Carlo LoParo.

32. John Kerry Is A True American Hero
My two hero's are John F. Kennedy and John F. Kerry. Both senators from Mass. and both will be prsidents from Mass. The last senator that went on to be president was when John F. Kennedy and John F.Kerry will be the next. If not 2004 he will in 2008. John F. Kerry will be president. My hero will not give up until he does. That has been a life time dream of his and he will do it. If this election isn't overturned Kerry will be a force to be reckoned with in senate and he will come back even stronger in 2008! Kerry will be Bush and the repugs worst nightmare and before it is all said and done they will wish they never heard the name Kerry!

He has shown now what many of us have always known. He is a man of deep convictions and real integrity. He will not abandon us. "Regardless of the outcome of this election"

I will send him my heartfelt thanks for a lifetime of service to this nation.

I have nothing but deep admiration for this man. The more I learn about his life and accomplishments, the deeper my resolve to support him. The photograph from Arlington says it all.

Contrast that with shrubbie and his stepford wife that will not even talk to the families of those lost without loyalty oaths in hand.

His birthday is 12/11. I thought I'd get a card, and include in the envelope any birthday sentiments people might want to include. Don't have a ton of time, so I will probably close it out by the 8th. But those who want to can contribute.

No negativity though. I will not print out comments like "You let us down!" just to be clear. You can send your own card if you want that.
