4. BINGO, they are so you are discouraged from asking for them
they should be paid from a special fund, but that is one of the many reforms we need

5. A lot of resources go into it
I participated in a hand recount of just over 41,000 votes. Each machine vote was printed on a separate sheet of paper and 10 teams of 3 people each counted by precinct. 1 representative of each campaign was paid by the county, plus a county employee served as the main counter. Many other county employees served in other roles. I was a volunteer poll watcher, I couldn't be a counter because I had been an election clerk in an included precinct. The reount took 2 days countless reams of paper and I'm sure there was a whole lot of stuff going on I wasn't exposed to.

6. Per voter, they're cheap
For instance Ohio. Roughly 8 million registered voters. Estimated cost of statewide recount $1.5 million. Cost per voter, a whopping 19 cents!!!! The cost argument against recounts is absurd.

8. Sorry
I know this is inappropriate here, but I feel like all of you on this forum are practically my family.

Having that said,

Just right now found out my wife is pregnant again. Got a Cigar?

:toast:

(sorry for the self serving post)

9. Nader's Recount came in at $43,000 or something? But it was only a few
counties... I was shocked at what "Move On.org." said Frye's recount would be in CA....it was WAY HIGH! But it might be more counties since CA is so huge????

It is odd how it differs....
