28. there was some press
Local news (ch 10?) showed up for their hit & run shot of the event, but they didn't seem to stick around to find out what these people are passionate about. They announced some press present, though - I think from NY, OH and CA.

3. I emailed Freespeechtv to start covering this
Have not gotten a response back. Maybe people should flood them.
http://www.freespeech.org/fsitv/html/contact.shtml

I even told them raw footage would be better than nothing. I know they run on a shoestring budget but they should be on our side.

6. There would be twice that many if it weren't for winter roads
I think a lot more people would be willing to travel long distances if it weren't for the possibility of icy roads.

It's good to hear about the numbers. Of course, reports will be given to bush that the "focus group" is only several hundred disgruntled voters.

13. If the turnout was low
Its because the average person thinks the election
is over won fair & square....

the media does not give this enough attention
so only those who are active and read blogs know.

Unless in Ohio there reporting the facts on there TV news....????
I think if they new what we did they would all be there

21. I agree. I think the avg person believes the election is finished.
I agree with you that most people (erroneously) believe that the election is over.

The Republicans have successfully positioned "recount supporters" and those who suggest fraud--as nutjobs. Furthermore, there are no strong Democratic voices carrying the banner for the fraud/recount issue. This seems to lead to a chilling effect.

When no one is propping up the fraud issue--as the other side portrays fraud-suspecters as sore losers or lunatics--the issue has a tough time gaining general support.

I wanted to let all of you know that I am taking notice of the fraud issue. I'm a 40-year old stay-at-home mother of two preschool aged girls. I'm certainly not an activist. However, I've grown concerned recently because of the rumblings I have heard.

If people like me--middle-aged moms from the suburbs--are tuning in and wondering if fraud happened--quite possibly there is a slowly growing groundswell of curiosity and concern that will gain momentum.

I have been reading here and trying to sort out everything. I thank so many of you for posting information and for helping me to understand what is happening.

15. Protest organizers and participants..
..always exaggerate their turnout numbers. This has been the case forever.

If protest organizers and participants claim 3-4K turnout, you'd be safe assuming the number is about 50% of that.

Each case is different though, and since people involved in this movement already assume they will get little to no MSM coverage, they might figure there is no point in exaggerating the numbers.

Rally pictures will tell the story though, and there is little doubt in my mind that there are indeed thousands of people who take this seriously enough to have potentially turned out.

24. yes, lots of folks with cameras, video cameras, and even some big video
cameras--like they were news or something, or at least pro videographers.

I thought there couldn't have been more than 1K; my husband thinks less. We were there the whole time (even a little before). however, I'm not sure I'd get a full view, since I was in the middle of the crowd. But heck, I could see the sidewalks, the lawns to the side...

I will say that when a bunch of us were up on High Street with our "Honk 4 Recount" signs, a lot of motorists were honking. That was nice.

30. That is not true at ALL
Protest organizers and participants always exaggerate their turnout numbers.

No protest that I've ever been involved in or even just watched from home had organizers or participants who did ANYthing but try to be completely honest about their numbers. YOUR version of this is spin from the other side. Don't believe it.

33. That is probably accurate, I was there and there were people coming and
going, but I don't think I saw more than 4 or 5 hundred. It was great though, I got to talk to Cliff Arnebeck at length regarding the law suit, it will be filed on Monday. I also got to talk to Greg Palast. I have lots of pictures, but I can't download to my computer until I get home. I couldn't hear real well at the rally, I think the wind was carrying away a lot of the sound.
I also went to the symposium tonight, it was great too. Jesse Jackson spoke by telephone and I think they said he had the flu. It was hard to hear a lot of it coming thru the phone and then played on a loud speaker in the auditorium. I hope there will a transcript somewhere.
Everyone else was loud and clear. They were were all good speeches. The Rev. Moss and the Congresswoman from Texas were incredible! Bob Fitrakis and Greg Palast were very impressive also, but I got to hear a lot of their speech at the rally but I could still listen to either of them for hours. Actually they were all good , we really enjoyed listening to them and we learned a lot. The thing that surprised me the most about the whole day was how few African-Americans and/or young college age people were there. I thought there would be a huge turn out representing the people that have been the most oppressed during the election.
Greg Palast said tonight that almost all the votes that have been thrown out or just not counted have been from minority voters. Almost 2 million votes across the country, I wish all those people had shown up today, it really would have been Kiev,Ohio!

in our communities. We need rallies to show who serious we are about this issue. Winter weather.....HAH! Those kids in the Ukraine stood all night in bitter cold and snow, and they WON!
So, paper clips... or Cool Aid?
Im tired of all that neocon shit. Let's hit the streets.

18. SOMEONE IN OHIO NEEDS TO CALL AP AND DO A PHONER!!
Hi all,

Someone with a nice voice needs to call AP and mention that their story's count is off by thousands. If you were their in Ohio, you should call AP and tell them the story is off and give them some of the official contacts for the event. Then you should ask them if they ned any soundbytes from people who participated (you). If they say no, ask which AP reporter is doing followup on the story. Then e-mail the reporter and offer again.

I used to work news, btw. :)

We're really on the move here, friends, and by the time we're done the world we be able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that once again the American people weren't so insane as to vote for Little George.
