I am having dinner tonight with Thom Hartmann
I think, weather permitting.

Before you smash me, I am not bragging. There are lots of people in this forum who know 100x more about the vote fraud issue than me. If anyone has anything they'd like me to bounce off Mr. Hartmann, I'll have his ear for several hours tonight. It's an opportunity...and yes, I will be damned sure to send him this way.

4. How about this?
I've been claiming since November 3 that John Kerry would be smart to let others lead the way in the fraud/recount effort in Ohio, and then join in when the case actually found a footing in a court that would accept jurisdiction. My contention has been that if the Ohio electors could be precluded from casting their votes on the 13th of December because of a TRO issued by that same judge in Ohio, barring them from doing so until a complete recount could be completed, that would be enough of a monkey wrench to throw into the whole electoral college works, and would simply freeze the whole process, rendering the January 6, 2005 reading of the EC results moot, or, at best, on hold.

And that would keep Fuckface from claiming victory.

Am I just another crazed Old Leftie Lawyer?

Ok, now I think that's plausible. It certainly is the last strategy I can think of now at this time that could work. Either nothing is going to happen, or something very similar to this strategized plan is going to work.

42. Turkey Stew
I just used the T-day bird to make a really nice turkey stew and will soon have dinner with my wife who has two master's degrees, a post-graduate certificate (in the subject of my master's) and she is way smart! I am making biscuits, too. I'm sure she does not know who Thom Hartman is, nor do I, but she does know, and so do I, that the election was a fraud, even before Nov 2nd. I looked at his website and I would ask him why the hell does he think he will stay safe in the "radical middle?" Y'all come by for some turkey stew and biscuits and I'll tell you why there can be no "radical middle." Get real Thom, (that's a clue right there)!

34. I'd suggest staying with something more plausible
The entire election could swing over the simple (and easily understood) issue of partisan manipulation of resource allocation in Ohio to prevent people from voting. When ballot booths or voting machines are limiting the rate at which people can vote--as evidenced by the long lines--you can cap the number of votes from un-friendly precincts by starving them of resources. In short, you can determine who wins. It seems nearly certain that this happened in Ohio; it is illegal as all hell, comparatively easy to prove, and largely being ignored.

Black Helicopter theories (which may on may not in the final analysis prove correct) are in either case not nearly as good a place to start introducing the topic with someone.

38. No, Hartman has been on the fraud stories all along. In fact he has
published several times on it. He has a liberal radio show and will undoubtedly be aware of Madsen's angle. It makes sense to get his opinion on it. No one is suggesting to embrace that angle--just the opposite, in fact. Many, including this poster, are concerned that the more "difficult" conspiracy theories my serve to deflect attention from the key issues.

I stand corrected; I'm not familiar with Hartman's work.

I'm not much of a "media" person--I occasionally listen to NPR, and have watched Countdown a few times since seeing it mentioned here, but I mostly find radio/TV about as satisfying as being allowed to smell food. I prefer to read, ponder, and calculate.

15. a few questions for mr. hartmann:
not very erudite, but these are on my mind:
1. is the relative silence from the kerry camp tactical or defeatist?

2. is it silly, naive, uninformed to hold hopes for a kerry inauguration?

3. are there reparative steps built into the American system to rectify voting fraud and the possible theft X2 of the presidential office, or must those measures be added to the system? is correction at the discretion of the thieves?

4. an aside: did hartmann once helm the riverfront times in st. louis?

thank you, and order dessert if he's paying.

23. I'd like you to ask him about what he thinks can be done about the
Preznit's Orwellian 'New Freedom Initiative', that's the program that just passed in Congress that will allow pharmaceutical companies (masquerading as mental health professionals who care) to perform mental health 'screening' on all our children without parental consent. Does he know anything about it, and what we can do to stop it. I don't trust our elected officials, I just read last night that Democratic representatives did not fight to add the wording that allowed it only with parental consent. Don't know what to believe at this point, but this initiative is scary to all parents, those that know about it that is. Can he do research on it and publicize it on his program? Very important.

29. Try to get Thom out of his pessimistic
attitude and joined in the fight for our democracy. I listen to the Thom Hartman show almost every weekday morning. I've been dismayed that Thom just wants to move on to the 2008 election and is pessimistic that anything will happen to uncover fraud and overturn the '04 election. We're still in this!! Kerry really won, and we all know it!!! Shouldn't we stand up with our righteous indignation and fight? Do you really think 90,000 people cast a vote in Ohio without a presidential choice marked? Something is terribly wrong in Ohio and in other states too. Come on Thom -- you are one of our strongest advocates -- don't let them get away with this!! This should be the fight of our lives!!

Anyway, Will, that's what I would say to Thom Hartman around the dinner table!

30. Ask him how he is so sure that the international monitors of the OSCE
have integrity?

They monitored the Ukraine, but they also monitored, on invitation of the State Department, the 2002 elections, the 2003 California Recall, and now 2004.

From the looks of their preliminary report on 2004, (not to mention their earlier reports) they either are very naive or not very honest.

The most important thing is, though, does he know any of them? Does he have their ear? Can he get them to take a closer look before they submit their final report?

Their website is www.OSCE.org

US site is
http://www.osce.org/odihr/elections/field_activities/?election=2004us

Also, what's he know of the international monitors invited by the group in San Francisco?

Thanks. Anxiously awaiting your reply.

32. Make sure he knows we've got the Boston Tea Party going on
over here, and that there is a core of bright and concerned people who are never going to get over this, because they see this crime as the one that may well break the back of democracy.

Our democracy functionally speaking really has five branches: Executive, Legislative, Judicial, the media, and the power of the vote. If this crime stands, Bushco controls all five and is beyond the reach of any checks and balances.

So we aren't getting over it, and we need him, one of our most gifted thinkers and writers, on our side.

Thanks, Will!

56. Yes, tell Thom the Tea Party has begun....
Have read many of Hartmann's books and articles, been a fan for awhile. Thom is a rare combination--a deep thinker who can also communicate in very direct terms. He's brilliant. Check out his radio show if you don't know about it:

"Thom Hartmann is a Project Censored-award-winning, best-selling author, and the host of a nationally syndicated progressive daily noon-3 pm ET radio talk show, heard across America via the Sirius Satellite Radio system, on radio stations coast to coast, in 29 states on CRN, and worldwide on RadioPower.org, weekdays from Noon to 3 PM Eastern Time."

-----------------------------

I agree with Bleever--the most important thing is to make sure Thom
grasps the depth of this widespread "we've been HAD" response to the November selections. I know that he sees the longterm implications of what has just occurred.

It may seem that there is general apathy, because not everyone is taking action or speaking out. Some are just stunned and denying their own reactions for awhile. But sympathizers are everywhere, and this thing is bubbling just below the surface. I believe that millions have heard the wake-up call and are waiting in the wings for their cue. They are looking for new voices in media, new organizations to join, new leaders to follow. I know at least 20 of these "quiet objectors" myself.

37. Hi from a fan of you both, are you in OH?
He liked my idea of calling our movement the Red, White and Blue Revolution. Maybe the two of you and the DU'rs here could brainstorm a way to roll out such a strategy to market our call for democracy in America as they are calling for democracy in the Ukraine with the color orange.

Some in DU are wearing paperclips. I like that too.

btw - we in NJ participated in a Peace Train to Newark. A couple of hundred showed. It was nice. I met some great vets for peace and two moms of soldiers in and back from Iraq. The one who is back is in Germany. Shocking how the cons have so disregarded our soldiers. We need to find ways to talk about that.

I encouraged these leaders from MFSO and VAW to pressure Kerry to stand up for the soliders and our democracy. Most of the speakers kept saying that election was over. I became the point person for saying that votes were still being counted. We need to find ways to get that message to people so that they feel inspired with hope.

I went around talking to young people too. Didn't want to give them false hope, but they do need to know that there are still votes to be counted and fraud to be exposed.

45. voter suppression in Cuyahoga County
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 10:40 PM by Chili
It's my obsession.

http://shadowbox.i8.com/Suppression/ohio/ohiomachines.htm

Is there any source we're missing where we can get a similar listing of punch card machine distribution for Cuyahoga County, similar to the listing released by Franklin County? Because the House Judiciary Committee and lawyers have the goods on Franklin County, the voters Cuyahoga County stand little chance of getting a hearing unless there's a breadcrumb trail absolutely proving deliberate distribution of faulty machines.

I know, too detailed, but there ya go... have a great time at dinner, I for one envy it, LOLOL!

59. You might want to start a new post when you report back
Good morning Mr Pitt. As you can see, everyone is waiting with baited breath to hear your report on the dinner last night with Mr. Hartmann. May I suggest that you start this as a new post called "My Dinner with Tom Hartmann" when you do the report since this one is getting rather long!

Thanks- can't wait to hear as well. Thanks also for all that you are doing!

67. Dinner conversation
Will-

First - thanks for your wonderful, inspirational essays on truthout!!

You might want to ask Thom if he thinks any of the senators might be inclined to challenge the reading on Jan 6. This would be on the basis of credible claims of fraud in Ohio.

I am thinking specifically of Senators Byrd or Boxer. Senator Byrd seem empassioned enough (at least judging by his speeches) and he is old enough that he might consider that there is nothing to lose by making such a move. Senator Boxer might do it to redeem the Dems.

Seems like there is enough aroma of wrongdoing that would be worthwhile. Wonder what it would take to induce Byrd or Boxer to act....

68. Enjoy your dinner, first . This question would ruin it.
When does he foresee this economy to ultimately collapse? The dollar is deflated daily, businesses have moved out of the country and are not picking up any of the tax burden, 6 to 8 million unemployed also not picking up the tax burden.....when does he feel we will go bankrupt? He talks about this on his show, our debt to China and Japan, but I don't think he's mentioned how long he thinks it will take, or what might slow the tidal wave about to hit. I don't expect solid answers but I think it's a topic that is long overdue.

Maybe I am way too depressed from this last election because of the 2000 disappointment. I know how you all feel. I kept all the info from that one.
This government is not going to do anything about changing the election equipment unless it will install their party again. The "election" talk will just be talk until the dollar is worthless and even the ultra rich feel the pain. They did the last time the stock market collapsed. Then maybe they will get their heads out of their ass and stop supporting our demise as a country.

I hope you will be able to collaborate with Tom and publish something together. You both have patriotically powerful prose.
