The DLC joins the Republicans in the "Moore bashing"
Sorry, if this was posted already, anybode please note the links to the article.

I just find beyond pale that Will Marshall, the guy that expressed this opinion about Moore, that is not perfect but still has the right to speak out, could call himself a "democrat."

His "fascistoid" views are not democratic, IMO, neither "proggressive."

You don't win elections with guys like him. Not even a fraulent one.

1. I'm not pleased about this.
Michael Moore represents a faction of the progressives, and I'm in it. The Democratic party insults Moore at its own peril. Might vote for their candidates in the future or not, but this definitely will affect the donations (as in, I haven't given a thing since I donated to John Kerry just before the election).

6. Dragging the party to the right has lost Congress
and caused two presidential races to be close enough for the Texas mafia to steal. It's high time the grassroots get together and manage to overthrow these right ring, corporate party hacks. Either we do this, or we leave the party entirely.

The latter may be the only way to accomplish it. Of course, that shuts us out of the process totally, unless the Greens happen to be fielding candidates in our states.

We already know the right will start to destroy itself as soon as it's deprived of an external enemy. It always does, no exceptions. However, if all that is left is another party headed by conservative hacks who are too busy kissing coprorate ass to get in touch with the country's people, it won't make any difference at all how marginalized the neocons and fundies make the GOP.

I'm going to watch what happens in the next few weeks very carefully. If the DNC appoints some DLC approved milksop to be party chair, then it's all over. This chick is voting Green.

3. Good part of article
(Michael) Moore's revenues come from millions of ordinary people paying 10 bucks a pop to see his film.

In contrast, only about 200 people a year visit the DLC at the box office – only they pay thousands of dollars per ticket, and they all have names you'd recognize: Eli Lilly, Coca-Cola, Union Carbide, Occidental Petroleum, BP and so on.

7. Democratic leaders hate us.
I've said it a million times, so I'm never surprised at this behavior. The only time I ever heard Bill Clinton be rude to anyone it was to Amy Goodwin on Pacifica Radio. I'll never forget that.

9. Alternet sucks
Sorry to say it. They have completely capitulated on the election issue, and that is disingenuous and bad journalism. It also is not the position that most liberals and aware democrats are taking. So I don't worry about what Alternet says or carries anymore.

11. Kool-Aid stained bastards.
I quit watching one of my favorite shows, SouthPark, after I saw Team America, in which this same sentiment was expressed. I felt slimed, like I'd just paid to see a Neocon infomercial.

Trying to discredit some of the most powerful and effective voices of the people is a very destructive and obvious strategy. Shut up anyone who tells the truth.

12. They do know that Mike gave up his Good Friend
Ralph Nader to support Kerry.

Now they won't support him!? Mike went to many cities to give fiery pep talks to us all. He put together a potent and factual Documentary F9-11 that seared in Rove's craw like a phosphorous.

Moore gave of himself and now he is losing support because the Bushies are putting the heat on. Mike is a good guy, hard working, smart and valuable. While Rush fabricates, Hannity lies and a host of minions invent an alternate reality for the Bushbots, Moore puts facts in prospective and Cons loathe him for that skill.

I stood feet away from Moore for nearly an hour-long pep talk and he was nothing short of inspirational. He's earned and deserves support from all Dems even if they have pet peeves with his style.

14. The DLC is not my party
and if the rest of the party goes "toward their light", you can rest assured that I won't be donating to it. As far as From & Marshall are concerned, they can kiss my fat liberal ass.

Michael Moore did more for this nation than either one of those greedy hacks could ever dream of doing and I don't want the likes of those 2 politicos talking for the democratic party.

I want honesty and truth, I want justice, equality and the other principles that are the core of our founding fathers vision. As far as the DLC it simply means Dicks Like Cheney - thieve, liars and monsters.

15. Question......how many people on the Left didn't vote?
I think the results pretty well speak for themselves....we've "maxed the TAED (total available electoral demographic) in this election. I suspect that the more progressive one is the more likely that person voted and voted for Kerry.

Seems to me, it's not our vision (although, frankly, I think Kerry didn't spend enough time defining it and contrasting it to the Republican vision of our future). It's the voting machines. I'm not convinced we lost the majority of Americans. I am convinced we lost the ability to control a fair election.

I further postulate that, as events in the USA continue to deteriorate, we will see significant erosion of the Republican base. The Republican chickens will be coming home to roost over the next year or 2 and many who refused to believe will finally wake up to what we've known for years....that this criminal administration is essentially anti-democratic and anti-American.

We should not tack to starboard, the wind is to port....we should continue to define and develop a progressive message, even drive a harder vision in the face of the reactionary regressive agenda of the Right. Talk up universal healthcare, gay rights, fair taxation, a public/private partnership to reinvest in America and rebuild a 21st century infrastructure that addresses a post-peak oil world. We have nothing to fear in this vision.

What we cannot do is start splintering....that is the only way we can lose, IMHO.

19. DLC In Its Death Throes
The DLC is over. Democrats like Lieberman have become a pathetic joke -- like flared pants and polyester suits. There used to be an argument for keeping these guys around --to hit up corporate donors for cash-- but the broad electronic progressive movement ignited by Dean/MoveOn has effectively marshalled small Internet donors and has made them obsolete.

I think of Kerry as a transition candidate, the last of the DLC-dictated 100 percent AIPAC approved Democrat-Lite Democrats.

Today the DLC is simply another beureacracy trying to justify its existence and defend its turf.

Goodbye and good riddance. Thanks for Bill, I guess, and no thanks for paving the way for Republican control of the entire government.

21. Here is another thread that addresses some of these issues:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x112077

I find it extremely arrogant and hateful to disrespect a man who did everything to help the election of John Kerry - including leaving his own party to do it. The DLC/DNC will get the message when money does not flow freely from those of us who have been faithfully contributing. I guess I lived in denial for a very long time - it took this election and the abject failure of the Democratic Party to step up to the plate for me to see the light. It is hard to lose an election to fraud and voting rights violations - it is unforgiveable that the Democratic Party has totally abandoned this fight.

22. Sure bung holes
"We've got to repudiate, you know, the most strident and insulting anti-American voices out there sometimes on our party's left ... We can't have our party identified by Michael Moore and Hollywood as our cultural values. – Al From, CEO, Democratic Leadership Council"

"You know, let's let Hollywood and the Cannes Film Festival fawn all over Michael Moore. We ought to make it pretty clear that he sure doesn't speak for us when it comes to standing up for our country. – Will Marshall, president of the Progressive Policy Institute, the think tank of the DLC"

Well guess what a-hole you don't speak for all of us either and I'll listen to whomever I want. I don't need no faux lib psycho telling me what to think no matter what their Stink Tank says. Sorry guys we are not like the mindless drones that follow King Bushco and the neocon nutbags. We think therefore we are. We are democrats and we come in all flavors, far left, left of center, center, right of center and to the right of that? well DINO Lieberman. lol

23. I'm going to see Michael tomorrow at someone's house,
Moore is worth his weight in gold (such wealth!). We need more Moore and definitely less DLC. I am going on record here -- if the DLC and their ilk still control the democratic party for the next election, I'm out of the party. I'm going GREEN!

Maybe this will be a truly realigning election - just not the way the pundits have called it. It may be the straw that diminishes the Dems and enhances the greens.
