Hope to feel more optimistic but....
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 09:26 PM by politicasista
Okay, I may filp flop at times but I decided to vent. Ever since November 2, I was hoping that we would evict Smirky from office the next day, but I guess I was wrong.

Since this is my first time voting, I am struggling to move on. (I don't want to). This was my first time paying attention to a presidental election because of issues like education, jobs, economy, etc.

I want to believe that there is fraud and strong evidence, but some days I don't know. (I am an up and down person). I post in the "I Believe" thread for hope, but lately it just been a bunch of Kerry bashing and nothing else.

I would like to believe that Kerry/Edwards are fighting this, but some posts suggests otherwise. I have heard people saying that "if Kerry can't stand up for us and democracy, how can he stand up to the terrorists?" and a bunch of name calling, etc.

Some days, I just want to echo the fact that Bush clearly stole this election and the better man I voted for lost, but other days I just feel like we lost, get over it, we nominated a weak, indecisive candidate who ran a terrible, disorganized campaign that couldn't defeat the worst/hated president ever period.

I am encouraged to post and read about the voter fraud, but what would happened if it was actually revealed? The media isn't covering anything. It just feels like regardless of the outcome, Bush will always get HIS way. He never has to concede. His supporters don't know what it's like to cry all night long and be depressed for days. He controls everything from the House, Senate to the Media and SCOTUS.

Anyway, had Kerry won, none of us would be having this conversation. We would be talking about who is in his cabinet or what he plans to say in his inagural address. Instead, we are talking about how he is a coward for conceding early instead of following through on his promise, what a fine president he would have been and all the coulda, woulda, and shoulda, and who we should run in 2008.

Maybe this was God's plan of letting Bush clean up his own mess and finish what he started. I don't know, but I would like to find optimism somewhere.

3. Let's keep hope alive,
there's a lot of people trying to get to the bottom of this election. I don't know if they are going to be able to block these electorals in time but I think the bushies are in trouble!!

4. Thanks.
I just feel up and down on some days cause we have an arrogant and incompetent CIC running the country, when half of the country hates him. :-(

11. Then
With all due kindness, just take a prozac till the bi-polar swing fades, and you can just post optimism on DU instead of posting during the down times when you just simply infect an already fragile DU negativity and depression.

But we are here for you, we are all here for each other, so hang in there, there are even tougher times ahead, but we will make it through them as well.

5. it hit me today really hard
i just realized that its the 4th and something has to be done by the 13th. i dont hold out hope any longer. i would take an act of god, in fact if something does change the results i may have to reconsider the existence of such a god. sadly, any optimism i had has left me. all i can hope for is that the chimp gets his commupance. speaking of which, what level of public shame, dishonor, and punishment of the bushies would satisfy your hatred of what this regime has done?

Even if we are thwarted again, try to look at the silver lining. Bush is still a war criminal and an incompetent boob. If anything, things will get worse in the next year or 2 and many Americans who refuse to believe the worst will witness it firsthand. Our numbers will grow, our commitment to change won't waver.

Job #1 is staying focused on election reform. If we can drive this, I think we will take back the majority in 2006. Then the investigations begin. People sing. Impeachment happens. But unlike Nixon, I think we'll be conducting criminal trials.

It took 4 years of fundraising by Bush/Cheney and spending $750MM to win....actually, they still had to scam the vote to pull it off. Their numbers will continue to erode, ours will continue to grow. Bush may have "won", but I don't think he's going to like the ultimate prize.

9. Optimism
I understand it is sometimes hard to maintain the optimism....we all know that.

Personally, I belive the election was riddled with fraud. I do not need to see this in mainstream media to make me believe it more. It is simply what I believe.

That said, it would be really nice to expose the fraud and have those responsible held accountable. Even if this does not happen, I know I have done what I could to make a difference and will continue to do so.

I remain hopeful that we will see justice prevail - no matter how hard it seems sometimes to keep that faith.

Now go look in the mirror and SMILE!

:bounce:

10. I concur.
Some days it is hard to have hope. But I try to keep a positive look on three parts:

1. It's still possible that the truth will be fully revealed and the electoral college can be altered. Sure, I get angry by the idea that after the electoral college meets, its decision can remain in force even if it is later proven that voting fraud took place on November 2nd. That just doesn't make sense and the process should be reformed. But, until that day happens, I am hoping the right man will be declared winner.

2. Even if Smirky the Chimp gets his 2nd term, things will go to hell in a handbasket so fast, I'll be the one wearing the smirk. It's so sweet to be able to tell people, "told you so!" Yeah, I don't like the idea of hungry widows, poorly compensated servicepeople, crappy federal programs, etc. But sometimes we need to go through absolute misery before certain wrongs can be eradicated forever.

3. Even if it's too late, the truth will be revealed eventually--and righteous vindication may be even sweeter once the hell of his second term is underway or completed. May his "legacy" be one in which the world remembers him with nothing but disgust, hatred and revulsion.
