Let's say that a limited recount tilts Ohio for Kerry. Then, Republicans take up our mantra demanding every vote be counted. Will we be all for a state-wide recount?
Seems to be in that case it would be inevitable for a state-wide recount and in order to, at the very least, appear to take the high road, we should agree with the Republicans and demand a state-wide recount.

2. Whatever gave you an idea that recount will be limited? |

Greens want to do a state-wide recount of OH. Nobody is asking for limited recount. In fact, Greens had to fight in court because one county refused to have a recount and judge ruled that it must. And if limited recount could tilt OH for Kerry, that would be some recount indeed-Kerry needs around 120,000 extra votes to beat Bush in OH.

If every vote is indeed counted, Bush will lose. They don't want a full recount. Instead they will try to spin it that since Kerry conceded, a recount is immaterial. If nothing else, they will spin it that since Bush stole the election, it's his by right because he stole it.

4. It will be an all county recount. Green/Libertarians & K/E all want this. |
|
That is partly what the K/E intervention this week was about -- to make sure all the votes are counted.

8. No "appearing" about it -- this is NOT about winning at any cost |
|
this isn't even about winning. And it CERTAINLY isn't about Kerry.
This is about saving democracy, nothing less.
You know, there are a couple of things about Republicans that I consider hallmarks. One is the fact that they have to lie about everything -- who they are, what they're up to, what they want to do, what they've done, and US.
Another is that to them winning is the ONLY thing. They're intent upon consolidating power and squeezing Democrats out completely. I really hate to see anyone on our side pick up the "winning is the only thing" mantra, or focus so keenly on the highly unlikely possibility of Kerry taking office in January that they're tempted to even think about things that might get us a win no matter what.
COUNT EVERY VOTE. I want THE PEOPLE to win, and I want to preserve the right to vote and have it counted because if we don't have that, we don't have nothin'. NOTHIN'.
Put another way: You can't vote 'em out if you didn't vote 'em in.
This is our last chance to save democracy. It really is.
