Lucas County and Wood County articles on Election irregularities

Elections chief resigns, 4 staff are suspended

snip:

The county, which certified its vote Wednesday, will have to amend its official certification with the state, in part because of an apparent failure of employees to properly do their jobs, board Chairman Bernadette Noe said.

A spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell said yesterday that Mr. Blackwell "continues to have grave concerns" about the performance of the county elections office, and said he will soon intercede to make changes.

Here is another article about an incident from neighboring Wood County. Hope it's ok to add it on here, I don't think I can start new posts yet.

Investigation sought in poll data's removal

SNIP:
BOWLING GREEN - Wood County elections officials have asked County Prosecutor Ray Fischer to investigate whether a local Republican broke any laws when he removed a list of registered voters from a polling place Nov. 2.
Ed Sitter, who headed the Bush re-election campaign in Wood County, allegedly took the Middleton Township North precinct list from the Haskins fire hall shortly before 4 p.m. on Election Day.

We heard the call on our police scanner on election day, but never heard anything more about it until it hit the small town paper a couple days ago.(sorry not available online).

The Blade's article doesn't go into it as much as our local small paper did. From our local paper, the man swooped into the polls and scooped up the book without notifying anyone what he was doing. He
came to the polling place in a vehicle from Michigan(although he lives in our area) and was with 2 Republican party officials.

In addition, our local paper, The Sentinel-Tribune states that "Mr. Sitter attended a holiday reception at the White House Wed. evening (12/1) as a thanks for his work on the presidential campaign."

"A republican member of the board of elections, said this morning tha Sitter and the others in the vehicle on election day were volunteers for the Bush-Cheney campaign and not for the local party candidates."

1. I think there were lots of shenanigans in the small counties too...
can't get to the blade link, I just get the background and nothing comes up. Can you post the text?
I've been looking for Shelby County by precinct and can't find anything, it's one of those counties where the supreme court judge Connally got considerably more votes than Kerry

9. Me either -- I thought it was me (or my browser)
I get everything BUT an article. The sidebars, and a big ole fat ad at the top middle of the page and below that, nothing. No article. I refreshed a bunch of times. Nothing.

3. Any other 'Ohio Repug campaign people' at the White House on Dec. 1??
And did the paper say whether they were presented on Dec. 1 with any Holiday 'gifts' in gratitude for their 'help' on the campaign? private...

Not sure what to make of this one. Seems half are Democrats, including the county elections directer.

7. Dems split over choosing e-voting machines
according to this: link

Also said when choosing which machine to use, Katherine Blackwell casts the deciding vote.
