King County News
Nov. 2, 2004
8:58 a.m. King County issues first flood alerts of the season
The first heavy rainstorm of the season has prompted the King County Flood Warning Center to issue Phase Two flood alerts for both the Tolt and Snoqualmie rivers this morning.

The Flood Warning Center was activated at 8 a.m. and is closely monitoring conditions. A Phase Two flood alert means minor flooding can be expected in low-lying areas along those rivers. Some roads in those areas may also need to be closed due to the flooding.

King County is advising residents living or traveling in flood-prone areas to continue to monitor weather conditions. A Phase Two alert on any major King County river is the level of the county's four-phase warning system at which the Flood Warning Center is activated to monitor lowland flooding. It will remain open and continue to monitor the river flooding until conditions improve. Motorists are reminded never to drive through standing water or around barricades; this is how most lives are lost during flooding.

Residents in affected areas can get updated information on flooding on the King County Web site at www.metrokc.gov, or can visit RPIN, the area's regional website at www.govlink.org. A recorded flood-information hotline is also updated each hour for citizens wanting information in flood areas. The number is 206-296-8200 or 1-800-945-9263. Citizens who need help interpreting flood information should call 206-296-4535 or 1-800-768-7932. Problems on county maintained roads can be reported by calling 206-296-8100 or 1-800-KC-ROADS.

This was the day before the election in Palm Springs but (was there early voting)?

Some minor problems with voting machines have been reported and each instance is being investigated, Stringer said. She couldn’t immediately say if any of those problems were with machines in the Coachella Valley.

Despite a power outage yesterday in the Norco area, voting there is going fine, Stringer said.

1. How do you fake a flood alert?
Just curious. You would think people would notice?

2. Power outage in Colorado

Colorado | Power Outage / 3-Hour Waits Hit Some Precincts
Rocky Mountain News reports on a few problems at the polls today…

Some technical problems were reported in Arapahoe and Teller counties.
In Arapahoe County, five precincts lost electrical power. According to the Colorado Secretary of State’s office, Xcel Energy was working on restoring power to those precincts. The voting machines that were affected have a battery backup and were still functioning.

In Teller County, voters who said they had not cast ballots in this year’s election appeared to have already voted early or voted with an absentee ballot. The software for the voting machine was fixed and election judges released new poll books, the Secretary of State’s office said. Voters in the first 30 minutes were given provisional ballots.

In some voting locations across the Denver area, lines were extremely long. For example, it three hours for a 7 a.m. voter at the Tattered Cover bookstore in downtown Denver.

Denver voters at the Tower at Speer Apartments at 1255 Galapago St. waited for up to two hours in lines that stretched through the complex’s lobby, into a main hallway and past residents’ doors.

3. Power outages in several counties in Utah throughout the day
Utah Power Outage
Power outages were reported in several counties in the state of Utah throughout the day on November 2, 2004. Weber, Salt Lake, Utah, Tooele, and Emery counties all reported spotty to county-wide outages during the workday hours of Election Day 2004.

Weber County was the first county to report outages at approximately 10:30 AM MST with the northern half of the county affected. Utah County, Salt Lake County, and Tooele County including Grantsville, Deseret Chemical Depot, and the Tooele Army Depot reported power outages mid-day. Emery County called the Division of Emergency Services (DES) reporting a countywide power outage at approximately 4:30 PM MST.

There have been no reports of damage or injuries.

DES contacted Utah Power and Light who reported that the outages in Weber, Salt Lake , Utah and Tooele counties were the result of "bumps and glitches" on a 138 KVA distribution line in the southwest part of the Salt Lake Valley. In Emery County a tripped breaker on a major distribution line into the county caused the outage. Utah Power and Light repair crews had the power back on in all affected counties within an hour of the outage.

There has been no request for Federal assistance at this time. (Region VIII)

7. A Pattern?
I think I recall watching a little video about Black Box Voting (with Bev) in which they interviewed House GA Representative Cynthia McKinney about there being power outages at important precinct(s) on election day. All GA uses Diebold touchscreens. I can not recall which election -- it could have been the primaries of this year. I'll need to watch the video. Pehaps this is only a coincidence but . . .

4. Two polling locations in Travis County TX "accidentally" shut down
Few polling problems reported so far in Central Texas
As of 12:30 p.m., I’ve only heard of three instances of polling problems in Travis and Williamson counties in Central Texas. Early this morning there were two polling locations in Travis County where the polling judges accidentally shut down their computer systems, causing a delay of about 20 minutes. Travis County uses touchpad ballots. During the noon hour in Williamson County, there was a bad car accident in Round Rock which caused an estimated one-hour delay at a polling location located in a fire station.

Other than these minor problems, there have been no stories from any of the local media of fraud or conflict at any polling sites. So far, so good.

6. How do those counties look on the map?
Have you checked the map to see if the particular counties with outages and long lines were just Blue or a healthy mix of both red and blue majority precincts within them?

8. Carolab, I think you might find this interesting
I posted it in "4th Madsen Article:White House-linked operation paid for "vote switching""

Pertains to possible connections between the Piotr Blass story and the Madsen stories. Also points to business called "Five Star Refiners", located near Rockefeller Center in NYC (and also in West Africa), which might be connected with Five Star Trust.

Let me know what you think.

10. Kick, and someone please put your back into it.

Go to EIRS, and get reports that mention a power outage. Don't take the numbers off of them, we may need to refer back to them later.

Also things to look out for: fires, polls closed during hours.
