Someone suggested we "get Powell"
Perhaps the time has come. Old adage comes to mind...when you lie down with dogs, you get fleas. One has to wonder if Powell is going to allow the debacle that is Iraq to be pinned on him.
It would be nice if he decides to come forward with the truth after this...

Worldview | Hawk finds a goat
By Trudy Rubin

As fighting continues in Iraq 20 months after the fall of Baghdad, with more U.S. troops en route, some of the war's biggest proponents are putting out a new story line to deflect blame.

Heaven forfend that those responsible should accept the blame for the gross mismanagement of postwar Iraq (and give us hope of wiser policies down the line). No, instead we see a shameless passing of the buck.

Iraq's troubles are the fault of Colin Powell, the State Department, and the CIA, says Richard Perle, the former chairman of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Review Board. Perle is one of the most active of the neoconservatives whose thinking shaped the handling of the postwar.

Last week Perle told Fox television's Bill O'Reilly that Iraq's problems should be laid at Powell's door.

This could be a great day if Powell decides to tell the truth about the lie that is the Bush Reich.
}( My guess is that he has covered his ass all the way down fearing this moment. He is not a stupid man.

1. Hmmm, considering that Perle and his cronies IGNORED the
Powell way of doing things and his suggestions for how to carry out the war, that's a bit of a stretch. Don't get me wrong, I think Powell is as guilty as the rest, but to attempt to lay the blame at his feet when his plan (while still the wrong thing to do) would have avoided much of the debacle that now exists is sheer stupidity.

2. Perle believes the entire nation is stupid
"It's Powell's fault" and "the Iraq government is independent" are two of the lies which Perle believes if repeated enough will somehow come true.

A major share of the debacle in Iraq can be pinned on Perle himself. Maybe one day he'll be held accountable.

5. A lot under 50% are stupid
I'm sorry, with all the reports of "glitches" in this election there is no way you can tell me over half the people actually, intentionally voted for B**sh.

7. Exactly
As for the "independent" Iraq, let's see how many people would vote for Chalabi, Allawi et al. in a truly free election.

Perle is the architect, no doubt about it.

6. pearl oh yes we can trust him
he along with rummy and his cronies are just good ole apologists for israeli aggression and though israel stole the secrets for nuclear weapons from us and sunk one of our ships killing many on board, she is our dear dear dear dear dear dear friend so no harm no fowl. israel needs our help leveling every country around her so she can continue stealing land from the arabs. my goodness why do they hate us so? so it is only fair for pearl and his buddies to toss this country into the crapper so israel can steal more land.
