2. Yes, but it won't matter.
No matter what we find the courts will rule in favor of their new masters.

Yes, we can prove to the world and anybody in the USA who will listen that the election was rigged and stolen, but this government decided the outcome months ago and will not allow such matters to divert it.

5. Good Thing Then
THAT WE'RE NOT LEAVING IT UP TO THEM!

We Don't need the governments approval. We don't NEED their allowance of it. We will accomplish our goals anyway. Cause we are DU. We are unstoppable. We will plow through any obstacles in our way. We WILL NOT give up. We WILL NOT give in. We WILL NOT let them get away with this.

Oh Yeah, we also WILL NOT let any poster bring us down.

18. Without direct action, which you have elsewhere ruled out, how?
If opinion could sway this government, we would be quit of them by now.

This is the beginnings of a fascist dictatorship that derives its unjust power by force and fear. Look at how the Nazis dealt with protest. I recommend you study the lessons of The White Rose resistance from that era.

19. I suggest you study DU and its wisdom, conviction, talent, and capability
We are not out to sway the government. We are not out to try and convince them "oh pleaseeee, government, we know you did it, oh Pleasssssse admit you did something wrong and leave? Oh prettttty pleasseeeee government".... Not exactly what we are out to do I wouldn't think. No. We will not sway them, we will convict them. We will not ask them to leave, we will have authorities do it via handcuffs. We will not fail in our mission. We will not fail our democracy. So help us God.

22. And when they say "No"? What then?
They own the Supreme Court body and soul. They will get whatever result they ask for from them.

First, you cannot convict anybody without the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court was supposed to be a body of elders who would protect our Constitution no matter what. When that concept fails, the Court becomes a tool of tyranny rather than a guardian of democracy.

Second, the President may pardon anybody he chooses, including himself. Yes, he may not pardon himself from impeachment, but is there even a tiny chance that articles of impeachment will ever be heard by this Congress? I cannot imagine Hastert allowing that to happen.

I think you just don't recognize a Putsch when you see one.

23. You're wrong on one point.
Edited on Mon Dec-06-04 02:58 PM by Stand and Fight
The president cannot pardon himself or anyone connected with crimes for which he and/or his supposed accomplices are accused -- hence Nixon's dilemma when he let his own men go to jail.

24. Actually he can.
Nixon didn't dare.

Go look at the Constitution. There are no limits on the power to pardon. My Constitutional Law professor at University of Chicago was very clear on that point back in the 70s.

Who will order the arrest?

The "Justice" Department?

You?

If the latter, you are already contemplating Revolution.

Unless you can show me a scenario where the Bush-controlled "Justice" department will arrest these people and convict them and overturn the election, I have to assume that it cannot occur.

That said, everyday seems to be bringing something new and interesting.

This is going to be a battle of increments and attrition. At no time do I expect a single telling blow to be landed.

15. Profit/Loss
Well....
There is a kind of "tipping point" that may make something happen fairly swiftly. If the entire Bushco regime begins to look just too too dirty entire networks will need to distance themselves in a real hurry - if only for classic market reasons.

17. And slowly
Edited on Mon Dec-06-04 02:08 PM by MuseRider
but slowly he and his personal band of "evil doers" will lose all trust of the people. It will be slow but it will be brutal. They have come so close to having it all, in fact they may still get away with it, but if they do not their downfall will be large and loud. The best part will be the total discrediting of each and every one of them and the fact that we can finally fix our system of election so that we can again really elect our leaders. I continue to have visions of orange jumpsuits, it is about the only thing that makes me smile these days.

Edit to add The only other thing that makes me laugh on a regular basis is Tandalayo_Scheisskopf. Thanks TS, you have stopped tears of sheer frustration for me many times.

But welcome to DU!

(I'm in a cynical mood today and have no faith whatsoever in the media, politicians, the courts, or my fellow Americans to see what's going on, let alone care enough to DO something about it.)

Edited to add: at least history will know what happened. Future historians and generations will know what happened. All the hard work that people are doing will not be in vain.

they want to be re-elected. If they stand by their man when the going gets too rough, they will abandoned them for their own political survival. They'll be forced to start impeachment proceedings in order to save their own skins. :bounce:
