FEDERAL JUDGE RULES THAT OHIO RECOUNT WILL GO FORWARD IN ALL COUNTIES

Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb today expressed his
satisfaction with a ruling by a federal judge taking jurisdiction over
a Delaware County, Ohio lawsuit and denying the county's attempt to
stop the recount of presidential ballots in that county.

"We are very pleased that the judge recognized our right to a recount
and that the recount will go forward in each and every county in
Ohio," said Cobb.

The judge also provisionally granted the motion by the Kerry-Edwards
campaign to intervene in the lawsuit in defense of the position of
Cobb and Libertarian Michael Badnarik. Although the judge did not
agree with Cobb that the recount should proceed on an expedited basis,
the Cobb campaign is confident that a full and complete recount will
take place.

1. Just a guess here, but
Edited on Mon Dec-06-04 02:12 PM by Spiffarino
...I believe this will go to the U.S. Supreme Court where it will be struck down, 5-4.

There's no way they'll let this happen, and since hardly anyone seems to give a shit (400 protesters at the Columbus rally this past weekend) they'll probably get away with it.

Sorry to be a bummer, but the turnout for the rally was sad. I hope the one in Raleigh, NC gets a higher number (I'll be there) but I'm not holding my breath.

3. 4000, not 400.
MSM did a spin as usual for the neocons.

11. more like 1500
I was there. It was a bitter cold day with 25 mile an hour winds cutting thru everyone. at any one time the crowd was probably the several hundreds but people were coming and going due to the weather.

i don't think it was heavily promoted in columbus, needless to say the big media didn't help it much.

20. So it was miserably cold, poorly promoted...
...ignored by the media and still got 1500 souls to show up?

I feel better now. Thanks. :D

7. I Dunno Spiffarino...Sandra Day O'Connor Just Might Be...
...experiencing some "buyer's regret" after her decision in supporting the halt of the Florida Recount.

It's strange that she, after continuously saying that she wanted to retire, has not done so yet.

Perhaps she's found her true Republican soul, and sees now, after four disastrous years of B*, that she made a huge mistake, and perhaps even wanted to wait out with retiring, in the hopes that Kerry gets inaugurated come this January 20th.

Somehow, I get that feeling, but of course, I could be wrong.

8. I've been thinking the same thing...
Of course the rumors of her wanting to retire may be just a Bush plant because they want to replace her with someone more radical right. I heard on AAR today that the fundies are starting a law school so they can put the theologically tilted into the judicial system.

17. I agree with you about Sandra Day O'Connor. I think she is
worried about her place in history and all reports are that she was shocked by the outrage over the 2000 decision.

Plus I've read that Bryer thought he could have turned Kennedy around if he had had a bit more time.

14. I'll be there as well
Wanted to go to Ohio but couldn't get off of work.

I heard the turnout was about 1500. When I heard 400, I snorted in disgust, literally. There's no way that the MSM would report the correct number.

10. Number of protestors does not equal passion of believers
I'm in Oregon, roads are icy. People all over the country would like to attend, but why attend a protest or a rally when you can be writing letters to reporters, to the media? The cost of gas has something to do with it, too.

Also, the weather was horrid at the rally. Bless those who endured it.

Another thing, it's getting close to Christmas, people are shopping on Saturday, getting ready for the holidays. It sounds crass, but for many people, Saturday is the only day to get errands done.

The rally is getting coverage, that is what's important. And the tainted election meme is beginning to take off.

Speaking of taking off, I better get back to work :)
