Help! Independent recounts for Florida
I'm working towards recounting a few precincts in my county. Is anyone here interested in starting their own recount?

1. I'm not in FL but keep us posted..
Anybody from CO? Can you recount precincts here or is that only Sunshine law allowing it?

Also, adolfo, will they let you look at the poll books? Like make copies or take pictures?

6. ANYONE can conduct an independent recount in Florida......
I'm still learning the process. Any information learned will be posted on the web site. Under Florida law I have the right to access public records and make copies unless there is a really legitimate reason to deny my requests.

It is best to check your election and public record laws in CO for those answers.

5. Hey adolpho... question:

How can a recount occur in a county with electronic vote machines? I know a recount can be requested and publicly undertaken with some amount of $, (like the Miami Herald did at $35 / hour), and this would work fine for op-scan counties with ballot records (correct me if I'm wrong). But what about the e-votes? How can you possibly recount those with any sort of confidence?

BTW... I'm trying to organize a few $ and people to help with a precinct count in Hardee county, which was op-scan and not too far away. Any help from anyone is appreciated.

9. Organize!
That is great news bj2110. Sometimes, we just have to go for it. I'm tired of waiting around.

Any op-scan county should yield some interesting results if they are comparable to the Miami Herald recount.

Here is the recount map:

http://www.recountflorida.com/ivrs_index.php

Unfortunately we can't do a meaningful recount on e-votes without a voter verified receipt. Anyone that tells you otherwise is misinformed or working with Sequoia/Es&S.

Check with your local election official for their fees. I'm recounting only what I can afford to pay and donate (in time). Orange county is charging $10 per hour. That is cheap. Hopefully they don't change it anytime soon. LOL!

If anyone else wants to help support the costs involved, I don't mind donating time to count more precincts in Orange county.

13. Connect up with Bev Harris and BBV for the e-voting review
About the only way to verify the e-voting is by doing what Bev Harris has done at Black Box Voting - ask for all relevant county & machine records. They've already done the ground work.

12. Spreadsheet FL elections 96-00-04 by county and voting machine vendor
If this can help, I did a spread sheet on Florida election results by county and 04 machine vendor '96 - '00 - '04.
http://bushspeak.free.fr/Downloads/Florida_1996-2000_by_vendor.zip

Also a speadsheet with more comparisons on '00-'04 elections.
http://bushspeak.free.fr/Downloads/Florida_2000-2004_by_vendor.zip

The general trend in the so-called Dixiecrat counties shows a steady trend since 1996 toward the Republicans. Many of the infamous counties have a 25-30% shift. One has a 39% shift. (You will have to consider that all Perrot's votes went to Bush 7-10%).

The funny thing is that the shift seems rather artificial and equally divided between 96-00 and 00-04. 12-15% each election. Jeb Bush influence?

PS The 2004 results were the unofficial ones released just after the election, so you might want to update them.
