Newspaper buying campaign
A way to send a message to the electronic media:

We want them to cover the news evenly and fairly or we will get our news - and put our money - elsewhere.

Start buying newspapers - either subscriptions or at the newstands.

It would be best to choose papers covering this administration evenly but it doesn't really matter if the goal is sending a message to Television "journalists".

Financial attacks and boycotts won't work - Americans are too addicted to TV to quit cold-turkey.

We have to tweak their pride. They want to think of themselves as "real journalists".

We might get a few rogues to speak out.

I don't know how long it would take before the numbers showed up but I'm sure it would make a difference.

There was a study recently that showed how much of the population gets there news exclusively from TV - we have to send a message that they can't count on that.

4. I used to subscribe to the Economist...
...they're considered conservative but they backed Kerry this election and they are fair and balanced

Maybe I'll subscribe again

5. It's not like the newspapers do so well -- they should be a taget too
I say skip ALL of them and get your news from the internet -- and get your friends to do the same. OH, and when they cancel, call the newspapers and tell them why.

I find myself not even remembering to turn the TV on these days. And I don't miss it at all.

7. And I say don't throw out the baby with the bathwater
The Washington Post -- who broke the Rood story and showed the connections between the Smear boaters and the Bush people.

All of the newspapers who endorsed Kerry should be supported, esp. the Crawford Iconoclast.

I don't believe in getting my news from one source only. And while I like internet news, there still isn't quite enough accountability for me there. I don't know what their mechanism is for making sure a story is right.

I will continue to get my news from both places: newspapers and internet about equally, then magazines, then TV dead last.

6. I get most of my news from the NYT
And I pay for them at the newsstand.

Otherwise, I just watch C-SPAN. I seldom watch regular news anymore.

8. Considering...
36 papers abandoned Bush and endorsed Kerry given Kerry 142 newspaper endorsements this sounds like a good idea.

Even the Orlando Sentinel who has backed every Republican seeking the White House since Richard M. Nixon in 1968 has abandoned Bush.
