AP: "Possibility that...Bush did not win Ohio." Green's Cobb says
Edited on Tue Dec-07-04 08:58 PM by jamboi
Finally dawns on the MSM:

AP:
``There is a possibility that George W. Bush did not win Ohio. If that is the case, it would be a crime against democracy for George Bush to be sworn into office,'' (Presidential Green Candidate David Cobb) said.

54. Green Party
I know I'm not alone on DU in my new admiration for the Green Party, but....

I'm seeing Rovian plots everywhere. Wouldn't it be a brilliant scheme to piss us off so much that they drive half of us into the arms of the Green Party and split the good-guy vote next election?

Nader times 10. The horror. The horror.

50. Yeah, thinking about him in NV
He was in there trying. Not enough dough. Demos could have helped there. $300,000, what NV wanted to recount, is a drop in the bucket out of $45 million or even $15 million leftover. Nader was out some bucks on NH, too. Missing poll tape... Well-oiled, lawyer-laden Kerry machine and we have to use ragtag tree-hugger and Libertarians, and volunteer pro bonos for blackboxvoting.org to stamp out crime in America. How 'bout some of that Ketchup money, I say.

67. "tree huggers" (2000) vs. tree huggers (2004)
4 years ago, I'd have put it in quotes.
But they earned the negatives of the appellation by putting a Bush in the White House. The Bushs represent the WORST of the GOP on the environment.
The appellation tree hugger, without quotes, was earned by the Greens as the result of that election meltdown, with all its negatives:
ineffectiveness
impracticality
irrationality

when they put Bush there with their campaign against Gore in Florida.
Now we have to dread the Day After Tomorrow, thanks to their "crusade".
Cobb has come a way toward adjusting an ethical imbalance by being active in seeking recounts. More so than the Kerry campaign.
This helps to redress what Nader did last time to the Democrats--and the environment he claimed to be protecting.
But it wasn't just 2000, on reflection, when the Environmentalists did damage to the environment. Mr. Commoner helped put Reagan, not exactly Mr. Environment, into the White House in 1980, if you'll recall, syphoning purist votes off Carter on the environment.
If they help turn this thing back around, they might earn quote marks again, I will say that. But we're going to have a way to go, to undo the damage they've done to the ecology.
So, until then, with no apologies. -"-

7. It finally has arrived!
The Bush campaign is not opposing the effort (they can't) or going public strongly enough.

The momentum is on our side.

Support Cobb, email him, thank him for the great service he is doing to the democratic future of this nation.

11. Bush isn't scared...no way.... I love this quote:
"The recount will probably not begin until next week because of a five-day waiting period to allow candidates time to arrange witnesses to the counting. Cobb, Badnarik and the Kerry camp gave permission for the recount to start before the five-day period. The Bush campaign did not waive the waiting period. "

27. Blackwell & team still hysterically whining about the cost
$1.5 million to assure the implementation of democracy.

Still no complaints from Blackwell & team about the $5 billion per month cost of the war, needless to mention the death and mayhem.

Those Repubs sure have an odd sense of priorities.

32. Reframe it!
Sure, it sounds expensive when you lump it all together. But with 88 counties, if you divide it equally among the counties the cost falls to $17,000 per county. (I realize that the cost relates to the size of the county. Let's just keep it simple for the purposes of this discussion.) After the filing fees, which were roughly one fifth of the total projected cost, it falls to under $15,000 per county. That sounds a bit easier to swallow.

They should have counted the votes properly the first time!

just saw the thread that was in Latest Breaking News.....but there was no link, and the person who posted it originally hasn't been on in over an hour.

Did they really report that on AAR? Or was it just a misinterpretation of the new AP release?

71. Because he's fighting for democracy. The Greens &
Libertarians, along with Jesse Jackson & John Conyers, are leading this fight, and leading it well. All the big political names are playing it safe, hoping the bad old Republicans don't push them away from the public feeding trough. This is Revolution, and for revolution the Ben Franklins & Thomas Jeffersons aren't enough. You nee rabble rousers like Samuel Adams & Thomas Paine just as much.

of what is happening?

Or are you trying to play the devil's advocate?

79. What do you think is going to happen in the next week, month?
Let's leave aside what we WANT to happen (I want to be 25 years old again, with a body like a movie star!). What do you think is more likely to happen: a bunch of nothing much, with GWB inaugatated, or an overturn of the election. I don't know about you, but all the stuff I've seen about the Ohio election centers around 1) a handful of polling places where the lines were long, and 2) exit polls, which have no standing, legally, in our elections.

I think a lot of energy, time, and money is being wasted on trying to overturn the results of the election. A handful of very partisan dem congressman are raising a stink, but NO Senator will. And, if I'm wrong, I fully expect the Repub congressmen and senators to play tit-for-tat, maybe challenge California or New York's electors. No controversy with CA or NY? Doesn't matter.

All in all, I'm one of those who think there's no evidence that will stand up before a grand jury that can demonstrate Kerry beat Bush in Ohio.

74. Hardly. The fight is just beginning. What we can't do is let it
die out as it did after 2000. (And yes I know that there are groups that picked up that torch as well; they are just not very well known.)

75. Why? Because he cannot hope to gain anything
by a change in the results. Therefore his concerns cannot be dismissed because they aren't motivated by hope of personal gain.

87. .. BREAKING NEWS: GOD OVERRULES BLACKWELL
Bush to be smitten later today

In a stunning development this morning, God invoked the "one nation, under God" clause of the Pledge of Allegiance to overrule the Ohio State decision that handed the White House to George Bush.

"I'm not sure where the that Blackwell gets off," God said this morning on a rare Today Show appearance, "but I'm sure as hell not going to lie back and let Bush get away with this bullshit."

"I've watched analysts argue for weeks now that the exact vote count in Ohio 'will never be known.' Well, I'm God and I DO know exactly who voted for whom. Let's cut to the chase: Kerry won Ohio by exactly 110,323 votes."

Shocking political analysts and pundits, God's unexpected verdict overrules the official State tally and awards Ohio to John Kerry, giving him an overall majority in the Electoral College. The Bush campaign is analyzing God's Word for possible grounds for appeal.

"God's ruling is a classic over-reach," argued Bush campaign strategist Karl Rove. "Clearly, a divine intervention in a U.S. Presidential Election is unprecedented, unjust, and goes against the constitution of the state of Ohio."

"Karl Rove's a jackass," God responded. "He's got some surprises ahead of him, let me tell you. HOT ones, if you know what I mean."

God, who provided the exact vote counts for every Ohio precinct, explained that rigged balloting machinery and voter intimidation were no grounds to give the White House to "a fuckin' idiot."

Our Lord then went on to note that he was displeased with George W. Bush's prideful ways and announced that he would officially smite him today. In an act of wrath unlike any reported since the Book of Job, God has taken all of Bush's goats and livestock, stripped him of his wealth and possessions, sold his family into slavery, forced the president into hard labor in a salt mine, and afflicted him with deep boils.

Dick Cheney will reportedly receive leprosy.

More Irish humour, just what the doctor ordered this morning. A bit of christmas smiting at the whitehouse wouldn't do any harm. You didn't go to a christian brothers school like I did by any chance??
