Inspired by Kerry
Is there anyone else here that thinks that John Kerry might have made a brilliant strategic move by conceding the election on Nov 3rd?

Flame away

4. here here
I keep having to remind people at work about that concession thing.

I think that Kerry is a brilliant person and I do think that he had and still does have a plan that will become evident to us at a later time. Also, the Dems have had four years to look through the law books and see what might work in our favor.

i am an optimist until I am told otherwise.

2. Deciding either way right now is premature.
But I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. He's the one with the political career. I don't believe that he is just not going to do anything. I think he knows what he is doing, I just don't KNOW.

So I focus more on the fraud side of all of this. We'll see in time, so I'm just hoping and waiting.

all this time, and i never had any 'Kerry gear'. Today, since i have no way to get real stickers, etc - i printed out an image of a sticker online and have it in my rear windshild window of my car :)

Over a month after the election? Yes, i am quite inspired.

14. If you want REASON to believe that Kerry really does 'have our backs'
Look at the thread about Kerry as investigator & prosecutor of Iran-Contra Investigation. In it Robert Parry says, "In December 1985, when Brian Barger and I wrote a groundbreaking story for the Associated Press about Nicaraguan Contra rebels smuggling cocaine into the United States, one U.S. senator put his political career on the line to follow up on our disturbing findings. His name was John Kerry. "

15. Remember the great racehorse Buckpasser
He used to win races at 1 1/4, 1 1/2, and even at 2 miles. He always had a stablemate running along with him to set a torrid early pace and then come from behind to win. I sure hope JK is using this strategy about the contested balloting.

17. kerry's early concession
of course i can't speak for kerrry nor read his mind, but i think he said something highly significant in his concession speech. he said that the voters, not the lawyers, should decide elections. the way i read it is exactly what is happening now: we the voters have decided to create the conditions to get him in the white house after all.

and the first thing I said when Kerry conceded was, that is one helluva a smart guy!

it is, however, excrutiating to wait, and watch, and wonder...if he may not be as smart as we thought ...and above all, when the hell is he going to come out fighting?

Christmas?

That would be a helluva media stunt, too, wouldn't it?

19. I have a lot of confidence in Kerry
Edited on Tue Dec-07-04 10:20 PM by intelle
I was particularly impressed with how his daughters spoke of him, both at the convention, and on Larry King. They are sincere and very nice young women.

No one raises daughters like that who isn't himself an honest, sincere person.

Not sure if the strategy was "brilliant", but I do think that he did what he thought was right, and I think he is still actively looking at the election results.

I am keeping my hope level on low-beam right now because I don't want to be disappointed if he doesn't come riding in on his white horse at the last minute. But, I know that he is helping the cause behind the scenes.

Go Kerry!!!!

There's so much we can't know.
I still have my Kerry-Edwards yard sign (on the screen porch) despite rock-throwing by the neighbors' company one night, etc.
Diehard, I know, but I'm too damn old to think being bushwhacked was fun or right.

My hair (shaved head in protest of the dictatorship) still won't grow out. Maybe it's trying to tell me something. Hope so.

29. The more we hear and read about John Kerry
the more people seem to become glued to him. The documentary "Going Upriver" was awesome. Did anyone see the documentary before the election of John Kerry & George Bush? It started off in the 60's. It was on PBS on Frontline. I believe the name was "Choice 2004". I don't know how anyone could see that documentary and vote for Bush over Kerry.

34. The PBS Documentary was great
My 17 year old daughter watched the program on PBS that followed John Kerry and Bush through their growing up and political lives. She was dumbfounded by the lack of substance in George Bush's life.

It was a very fair and balanced report that pointed out just how different the two men are.

We saw it at a Peace & Justice meeting the night before the election. I was so inspired by his service and integrity, apparent through his entire life. If there was ever a natural-born leader, he is it. GWB is just a worm by comparison. I firmly believe that John Kerry will come through for us in one way or another, hopefully sooner rather than later.

48. John Kerry has inspired me to believe that it is possible
that at such a critical moment in the history of our representative democracy, there might be a man with the bravery, intelligence, and humility to seize the moment, not for himself but for all the people he has worked so hard for, and to stand up to the thieving bullies who have no care for the actual principles that make the American experiment a success.

My opinion right now (and I will change it if forced to by circumstance) is that the time has to be now. Everything is broken.

If we think that Junior will get Watergated as the wheels of American Justice come to bear, we may well find another great non-reaction, like the one that greeted the final grudging admittal that shucks, looks like there weren't any ACTUAL weapons of mass destruction, but we know that if he had wanted some, and had then acquired the capacity to produce them, well, then he might have been in a position to potentially possess them. That should have been the end for Junior. It wasn't. The corrective machinery of democracy was "out of service". We can't expect that it will, of and by itself, start working again.

And Kerry's prospects in 2008, and those of the Democratic Party as well, seem bleak if this theft of the last check on tyrants and plutocrats is allowed to stand. They have the three branches of the federal government, the media is either owned or cowed into pale stenographers, and the only barrier to unleashing all the forces of greed and the Project for a Neo-con American Century is that people need to LIKE them, and vote for them. They still have to make 50% of the voting public actually endorse them. The people still have a voice.

Because I do believe in the people, and that in the end they usually get it right, as Bill Clinton says. But if the people's voice has been subjugated in the same way as those of the State Department and the CIA, we're another rubber stamp on the preordained agenda. Our representative democracy is no longer representative.

And as for John Kerry, can he win back the trust of those of us who have stood in the line of fire for him these last few weeks, if all along he's been looking to 2008? If it comes to that, time will tell.

But I don't think it will come to that. This is John Kerry's moment. This is the mission that history has assigned him. And I believe that it is a mission that he has not turned his back on.
