WOW! Julia Davis-
Regular citizen, Julia Davis to the panel...
If you are going to aks us to pay our taxes,
send our children to war, and yet not
allow us to be represented by our vote,
Why should we.
Paraphrased, but pretty much the gist of it.
The room was DEAD quiet.

GO JULIA!

Eloquence isn't about using fancy words. It's about getting your point across.

She was great.

50. She spoke from her heart...
there is nothing more eloquent
in this world than a person expressing
the deepest part of their soul.
Some sing it, some paint or write it.
She just stood there and SAID it.
How do we find her anyway?
We need to blanket her doorstep with flower
deliveries and tea bags...

18. Wanna hear my secret fantasy?
LEGIONS of moms pack up and mobilize
the ARMY of MOTHER LOVE.
We drive en masse to the military bases in this
country, we fly all over the world to where
our children are and we simply tell the
people holding them hostage as cannon fodder,
"We have come to take
our children home."
I don't think there is an army on this earth
that could stop us. There is no power on
earth like that of a mother's love for her child.
God help anyone who tries to stand between
us and our children.

46. I've been learning the truth about 911 only since the election
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 06:15 PM by BlueDog2u
And I now see how closely tied the two issues actually are. It may be difficult for some people to "go there" -- but the evidence that the Bush administration had complete prior knowledge of the 911 attacks, in my opinion, is now conclusive. Moreover, the timing appears to have been partly orchestrated to prevent the MSM's publication of its report on the 2000 election, which was scheduled....are you sitting down? For September 12. It has never been released. I guess the MSM just decided that that after 911, it was better that the American people not know the truth about who actually won the 2000 election.

30. Tea Party
Port Townsend WA recently had a tea party. They dressed in period garb and armed with black boxes they demanded a fair and transparent voting system. I live just a few hours south of there,Portland OR, but didn't hear about it until the next day--oh how I would have attended. Perhaps all port cities should coordinate tea parties...maybe now we are closer to being covered by MSM.

I 'm grateful to KPFA-Pacifica radio for broadcasting the hearing, but disappointed that they cut it off after the official speakers--because it is OFTEN the people, the grass roots, the passionate citizens, who have the best things to say.

I'm sorry I missed Julia Davis. I'd appreciate more detail. I'm glad she had an affect (it's also often harder for members of the public to get up and speak). THANK YOU, JULIA!

36. The Answer: Withold Your Taxes, Support Our Military Deserters
The questions posed by Julia Davis, and commented upon within this thread, lead us to a very logical answers:

Since we have "taxation with representation", as did the colonists, we should consider dramatic yet effective action, as did the colonists. In their time, this resulted in the Boston Tea Party. In our era, this can take the form of not filing your IRS tax return until we know who is our rightful President.

In a similar vein, the Bushitler administration has hijacked our military, kidnapped our young children, and sent them to fight and die in Iraq. We must free these young people from the hostage takers by encouraging them to "break out of the military prison", and support them in every way possible.

37. how many people can we get on board with this idea?
If we do it en masse, then it might make a difference, but as a person at a time, they could put us up for a very negative example. I am sort of afraid of this kind of action, but I would love to do it.

40. JUST SAY NO!
My daughter and I have discussed this at length
since they have now announced their intention to
include women in their stinking draft.
She is 17 too, she will be 18 in a few days.
She has stated that she will either leave the country
and seek immigration in an anti-bush country or go to prison.
she is very clear on the fact that she will NOT show up
if she is called.
As the young man said,
"They can't put us all in prison."
I agree and I think we are going to see
more and more young people refusing to go.
YES!

43. I feel the same way about taxes
they are not really legally required anyway. So, while we still pay income tax, we can just refuse. When they change to a sales tax we won't have be able to fight back with money. I read that if just 5% of the population decided to strike and not pay income tax it would bring the machine to a grinding halt. And as the young man said, they can't put us all in prison. It's expensive. And if we did it en masse, they'd have a real problem.

44. Wow! "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION"
was her message?

Seems like I recall that catchy phrase from somewhere in history...then there was a tea party held in a harbor, a "Don't tread on me" flag, a certain King George, several grassroots meetings and letters...

History should say, "Stop me if you've heard this one before". It does tend to repeat itself.
