PASSION - what the repugs are lacking |
|
this may be schmaltzy, but I love the passion in this forum. The heated disagreements, the encouragement, the dedicated work of so many. I lurked around a couple freeper sites, and ya know what? They're boring and don't seem to have an original thought among them. The only emotion they conjure up is disdain for those that disagree with them.
Long live the hotblooded democrats!

They may be boring; they may not have a single original thought. They do have disdain for Democrats and liberals. But they are passionate. If they were not, John Kerry would be President-elect this very minute.
And they are truly passionate about their disdain for liberals

They are defined by their passion. It may be different from what's here at DU but they are no less fervent or committed. If anything, they are more proactive at this stage in our political history.

and it's more like faith but, anyway you look at it, they ARE passionate in their pursuits.
(good analogy, btw!)

9. This is the best political forum on the net... |

Hands down, no doubt about it.
I am an admitted contrarian, and am very often in the minority of opinion here - but I love this place.
The board is set up well, easy to follow and downright addictive.
Geeze, I've been here for 3 years or so and sometimes don't post for months at a time since I travel overseas fairly regularly, but I almost always log into breaking news in the morning to start my day to find out what's happened overnight.
There are some truly great posters here who would probably be very surprised how much I look forward to and enjoy reading their posts. There are a few members in particular whose commentary I've followed for I think years now whom, even though I may not agree with them on many issues, I find very very consistant, intellectual honest virtually all the time, and extremely insightful and interesting.
I can't speak to conservative forum "passion". I know a lot of conservatives and rightwingers (nearly my entire family for example), and they definately appear passionate in their beliefs. I definately don't have time to spend on their forums and don't see any reason to post on them since I've little in common with their mindset. I'm pretty sure they are passionate in their own way, but lets be honest, they just aren't a really diverse lot. That is one of the ways they win even when they are completely wrong - they are like effing army ants, all marching in unison towards one goal. That may be good politically, but I doubt it is very intellectually challenging and probably doesn't make for an interesting forum.
