Conyers to ask for exit poll data...
http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/news/20041209/a_polls09.art.htm

<snip>
Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, said Wednesday that he doesn't know whether the information would answer questions about whether problems at the polls led to miscounts in the presidential election. Most polling experts who have studied exit polls doubt the data would be of use.

But, Conyers maintained, “if we can compare that data to some of the other information we have, it has the potential to be of significance” if it sheds more light on voters' intentions. He plans to ask for the information within a week.

4. "Hear, hear!"
I've forgotten the origin, something about hearing the latest news, it dates way back.

And, yes, the original phrase used the exclamation mark :)

5. Memo to John-
Why not circumvent the whole exit poll vs. actual results? Republicans will spin it that the exit poll data is meaningless anyways.

Instead, why not go right to the source? Pick a precinct or 2 or 3 where there is real doubt about the reults and canvass all the voters there? Ask each voter to stand up for our democracy and election integrity and sign an affidavit attesting to who he/she voted for? Make it bi-partisan for those Republicans who want their vote counted as well. Let's see if the voter canvass results agree with the published results. The results will tell us all we need to know. Certainly, Republicans don't want their win tainted...they should be as anxious us the Democrats in proving that the system works as advertised.

9. Here's my question...
If he already asked Mitofsky to attend the forum and discuss the exit poll data, and Mitofsky wouldn't, citing "proprietary information" -- and the media don't sound like they're gonna give it up, how will he get it (short of a subpoena)? Isn't that the Catch 22 we're in?

Legal experts out there want to chime in on this?

:shrug:
