If the Republicans refused to allow video equipment at the forum,
can't we spin this against them as something like:

"The hearing Republican lawmakers don't want the public to see! They used their majority power to ban the use of equipment at a voting fraud forum held by members of the House Judiciary Committee, but C-SPAN was there and caught it all..."

?????

2. Majority rules
If the majority does not give its blessing to a hearing, the hearing can"t use that room's tv stuff. Not the same as banning cameras, but still a pisser.

4. Here's the line I was referring to in your piece:
"Judiciary staffers from the Minority office told me the GOP majority would not even allow this hearing to be videotaped on the television equipment that came with the hearing room, and so they were forced to pester C-SPAN into showing up. They did, along with a number of other media outlets, but the effect was a quieting of the entire event."

9. William, is that why there doesn't seem to be a text transcript either?
Does it have something to do with the lack of equipment and staff? I would have thought that there would be a transcript pretty quick.

10. Check the author's note at the top of my hearing essay on truthout
There's a link to some of the statements.

There were a lot of statements, and I'm sure crunching a transcript that voluminous takes time.

Call the Judiciary minority office tomorrow. The number is at the top of the Conyers letter to Blackwell. They may have an answer for you on the transcript.

6. That's what I was thinking, but...
maybe it didn't happen that way. Read above -- based on what Will wrote but he says it's not accurate. ???

7. Mighta just been my ears
but the tone of your comment in the original post seemed to me like you were trying to say they banned all video equipment. What they did sucks ass, but it isn't as bad as that.

It is still good grist for the mill, tho.
