BUSH LIED ABOUT HEALTH INS - HE IS PLANNING ON GETTING RID OF OUR BENEFITS
Remember during EVERY debate and while he was stumping....he was telling Americans about how much he cared about us and was going to get health care for Adult and Kids? BUSH LIED AGAIN. Kerry told the truth.
==================================================================
Tell President Bush: Don't Take Away Our Health Care Petition:

http://www.care2.com/go/z/19390

According to a recent article in the Washington Post, one of the first orders of business President Bush is considering for his second term is simplifying the tax code by cutting taxes for large corporations. His advisers are quoted saying that he will pay for it by "scrapping the business tax deduction for employer-provided health insurance."

More and more businesses are finding it difficult to afford the cost of coverage for their employees, yet Bush's proposal would reward companies that don't provide health care and punish those that do. This could result in more companies dropping the health care that their employees depend on. Ask President Bush not to mess with the tax code by taking away our health care:

And let President Bush know that something must be done to fix the health care crisis. Instead of proposing ways to cut health care, he should be working on a plan that will ensure that every man, woman and child in this country has access to health care. Please act today!

4. Not sure if this thread belongs here, but...
I care deeply about this issue.

I've had serious health/dental issues my entire adult life. I don't think most Americans truly understand what it's like to not have access to quality health care until it happens to them.

The sunny side of more corporations dumping employee health insurance is that some of those employees will be Republican. When they're holding bake sales to pay for their kids' brain life-saving surgeries, we can ask, "So, how's Hillary Clinton looking now?"

7. WTF is this Chimp's problem? Why is he always doing this? Are they
trying to secretly commit genocide on all of us? I don't get it!

8. I see it as a sop to the corporations

This way they can drop expensive health insurance (which I'm sure they're desperate to do) and blame the government. Rather than losing a competitive advantage when another company might offer insurance where they don't, now all the companies will stop offering it. I don't expect salaries to rise commensurate to health insurance getting cut off, either. Just more money to line executives' pockets.

I suspect the chimperor rationalizes it as dropping health care costs as there will be fewer people making fewer claims, but then again, who knows what his screwy logic is.

10. What about the insurance lobby?
or the healthcare lobby

Insurance gave more to Republicans than dems

surely they can't be happy about this proposal

And maybe that's a good (hah, yeah right) reason for it not to get passed as part of the overall package. It's damned sad, however, that the only thing keeping people from the chasm of the uninsured is battles between interests.

12. There's a huge difference in premiums
for individual family coverage as opposed to group coverage which is usually negotiated. Insurance companies will then rake in lots more since all families that can afford it will pay for it. The difference in numbers will be more than offset by the increased premiums.

14. My friend said we were witnessing the gutting of the middle class
And I tend to agree; this is just another step in that direction. Oh well, I came from poor roots and I can handle going back if it comes to that, but I wonder what will happen to others going through this hard fall.

16. His trying to get employers out of paying for health insurance.
In some ways this is a very good idea. However, knowing
Bush he won't provide a fair alternative for people losing
benefits.

17. Right...
Like I said, I just don't see a commensurate rise in salaries, so if you earn $43 thousand a year now and don't pay for your insurance, you'll be hit with an extra $800 (or more, depending on your family status) a month. It's taking money straight out of employee's wallets.
