Exit polls a red herring?
Could the whole "show me the exit polls" thing be a red herring?

Maybe they want us to start a firestorm of how the exit polls will prove the election was stolen and then after months of court battles, etc they will be released to show that they show nothing.

Maybe they're counting on us losing our own supporters that way.

God I hate Karl Rove - he has me seeing the boogey man everywhere. Icky puke puke!

"he's just a man....just a man...pants on one leg at a time...just a man..."

1. Exit polls a screwup
They forgot to tell Mitovsky to fake the numbers from the beginning; only got to him later in the day. If the original numbers still exist (haven't been shredded or disk-wiped) they will hurt the GOP badly. It seems unlikely they wanted anything to draw attention because it would (and did) trigger thousands of individual investigations and millions of doubters. Regardless of the poll data, there is now reams and reams of other data which will damage them.

wasn't zogby curious about it also, on a few interviews I believe he might have been expressing interest in the discrepancy himself...what do we know about his political leanings?

4. Zogby leans left.
He was at the congressional forum yesterday, for instance. He thinks something's fishy with the exit polls, too.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

6. Zogby is considered a liberal but he's very touchy about it....

...on his website he goes out of his way to counter critics by saying that his brother works for the repugs in some capicity, etc.

He is considered a liberal though.

He is also of Arab decent I believe and he has been repug-bashed for hating Bush on those grounds (morons).

All of this leads me to believe there is fire behind the smoke. That the numbers really do show Kerry won - because Zogby was SO sure Kerry would win and now he's trying to backpedal and maybe save his firm's rep by saying that he was "within the margin of error".

Zogby had Kerry winning 300+ electoral votes.

Still I always worry what Karl Rove is up to...

7. not a red herring
but coudn't they be cooking them now to say what they want them to, so that when they are finally "released" they are not helpful?

Ugh. I am so sick of this stonewalling and namecalling. These people obviously do not care about America.

10. The problem is, the news orgs have the original exit polls
If they change them, they won't match and someone will blow the whistle. They're not releasing them simply because it will prove they were fudged after the fact.

11. And the FCC will relax the media ownership even further?
In exchange for the exit polls staying hush till 2009?
