Get ready gang
I think we are about to have ourselves a constitutional crisis.

There will be no forgetting Ohio after this is over.

3. The fun hasn't even begun
Besides why would anyone want a repeat of 2000? We all know how well that ended.

No, this is going to make 2000 just a footnote in history.

7. It violates the Constitution
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 10:07 AM by Eric J in MN
to make voters in black Ohio neighborhoods wait 7 hours to vote, while voters in white Ohio neighborhoods can vote within an hour.

The Constitution demands the Equal Protection of the Law.

This was an unconstitutional election.

9. they prepared well -- warned of long lines...
weeks before the election.... little did they say that they expected long lines because they had just gotten done merging many precincts!

11. Monday should be a turning point
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 10:37 AM by DoYouEverWonder
If anyone is going to launch a serious challenge to the outcome of the election the time is now. I think the DEMS have built a solid enough case to ask to overturn the results of the OH election or at the least delay them from selecting a board of electors.

If that happens, then voila, we will have a constitutional crisis.

This was the reason the SCOTUS gave for handing the election to W in 2000, because they wanted to prevent a constitutional crisis. I don't think they are going to avoid the train wreck this time. Not with folks like Blackwell doing such a good job of blowing it in every way possible.

12. Here's Blackwell's latest stunt
Blackwell Locks Down Ohio Voting Records Breaking news, more to come. This afternoon, two election volunteers working with the Ohio recount were denied further access to public voting records in Greene County Ohio. At the Greene County Board of Elections in Xenia, two California women working with the recount coalition (CASE and the Green party) were copying public records and requesting access to other voting records, per Ohio statute. The Board was told by Secretary of State Blackwell's office to deny any further access to voting records, a clear violation of statute. Apparently, the quote was: "These records are no longer public. There is a lockdown on all Ohio voting records." Ohio is no longer the Ukraine. Ohio is now Soviet bloc and Blackwell has made his office the Politburo

14. I believe OH has very clear open records laws
Blackwell's behavior the last few days has been outrageous. He has already had two Green Party members arrested and he blocked Conyers from using a public meeting space on county property.
