a positive in the election fraud mess
Some realized that even if/when Kerry was elected we could not afford to go back to sleep until 06; that part of the reason the country is in such a mess is because so many of us had simply not been paying attention.

Now most of us do indeed realize the absolute truth of the old saying 'eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.'

If we--or anyone or any group--expect the government to work properly, we HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION ALL THE TIME. We have to attend the school board meetings, the city council meetings, the county commissioner meetings, the state legislature sessions, etc. We have to monitor each election with our physical presence. In practice, this means we have to work with like-minded people, split up the tasks, share with each other ..... and persuade ever more to join the cause.

Either we want a democracy and decide to work for it or we just give up all the years of hard work, suffering, and even death our foremothers and forefathers devoted to 'the noble experiment' and admit to ourselves and everyone else that 'it's all just too much work'.

3. yes
Democracy is a contact sport. And it is actually fun to be involved in local, state and federal government. You meet people you'd never meet otherwise and are exposed to a wide variety of viewpoints.

What I mean specifically is going to town council meetings and even attending municipal or county court on occasion. Did you know there are groups of people who monitor the courts and attend sessions to report on the way cases are handled and how judges treat the plaintiffs and defendants?

I've attended some of these and you would be amazed at the difference in the attitudes of the judges.

These people are working for us. In business, do you hire a person and then leave them to their own devices, unsupervised? If you're not watching the system, then that is essentially what you've done.

All it takes is for each one of us to do something. It can even be a little something--whatever you can afford in the way of time or financial support to organizations. Just do something.

5. ...sleep? It's 4:15 AM and if it were asked of me, I would
run out and talk to the whole damn state about what needs to be done if I had to. Of course, it would probably get some people pretty mad to be woken up at 4 AM on a Sunday morning. So, I think I'll skip that.

But you are very right.

6. Danish neighborhoods meet weekly to talk politics
so i read twenty yrs ago.. true?

A similar scandi country, sweden... has/had a union rate of 95% in heavy industry, 90% nationwide.

That should be our goal..

especi. weekly local meetings. The dems dont even have an office in my big city, when it is not big-campaign months. No newspaper for the party either.

The party is like some ghost. Few know the reasons behind our causes, like welfare, ss, overtime pay, etc. But they know Rush's talking points, quite well.
