1. I Showed Up
indeed. Thanks for posting. As * himself said after the massive anti -war protests throughout the world prior to his evil invasion, the size of the protest doesn't matter. We're right when our protests are huge, and we're right when our protests are small. Unfortunately, they're ignored by the corporate media either way.:-(

thanks for restoring my faith that there are a few more people out there who are paying attention...now answer me one question...did they have logical reasons for being there!!! please say yes, because i'm a little disheartened after my experience today only 2 people were rational max...and thats 2/4 who showed up in D.C.

10. yep
Most of the people there were not lost. Lost of pettitions to sign. Lots of signs and the like. It was encouraging. The speakers were also very good and got the crowd in to it.

I had heard him say he was going to speak at some rally in Austin over the weekend, did he?

Thanks much for posting the photos!

18. lol, yes, I'd say so
... that is, if you mean "different" in a good way... :-)

He's extremely passionate and patriotic, that's how I'd define him.

And yes, that is "different"!

26. Very good report on rally including the best description of Jones
I've ever read.

Send No Messengers of Defeat: The Texas Capitol Rally Against Election Fraud
Next up to speak is Austin-based infowars guru, access cable host, and emerging radio personality Alex Jones, who turns up the heat with his raspy allegations that e-voting machine systems are "a complete and total fraud."

"What a beautiful day to be standing up for our Constitutional Republic against enemies foreign and domestic," exclaims Jones in a pure patriot opening. Jones carries a loaded automatic in his throat, and he sprays his audiences with rapid fire allegations of conspiracy, corruption, and confoundedness in high places. For Jones it’s the ballot box or the cartridge box, and right now the ballot box is looking like a stolen weapon.

Then he starts talking about my own congressman elect, Michael McCaul, telling me that I am now represented by the son-in-law of Lowry Mays (oh great, just what I needed to hear). Lowry Mays, in case you don’t know, is the affirmative-action-killing chairman of the board at my alma mater, Texas A&M University, and founder of Clear Channel Communication, the powerful right-wing radio company.

As if all this isn’t enough to make my pen a little nervous, Jones tells me that McCaul’s in-laws also have major shares in the company that makes the same e-voting machines used at the polling place where I voted against McCaul.
-----

Great read, go check it out.

15. I was there!
My kids and I drove into downtown Austin and arrived just as the first speaker began her introductions.

I was curious about the number of people, too, so we started counting. We quit at 120+ because the rest were too bunched together to tell just how many there were. Not bad!

Did anyone mention that it was 81F here today? It was getting downright toasty. It's supposed to be at least 20 degrees cooler tomorrow with a hard freeze expected Tues. night, so this march was well-timed for us.

Thank you jbond for the pics. Kip and I estimate that a final count of everyone who showed up is 300 to 400... We passed out over 200 buttons and there were still a hell of a lot of people who didn't get one.

27. I got one. A lady asked me where I got it and I gave it to her.
I got another and another lady asked me where to get them and I gave it to her.I ended up giving away 5 buttons and still did not have one at the end of the day. Oh well that is the way the cookie crumbles. I am the guy that was telling the drivers on the march to "HONK FOR YOUR VOTE'

You got some nice crowd shots.

I'm glad we did this. Yes it was hot today but at least it didn't rain on us. Hell is going to freeze on Tuesday I hear. Predicted to be in the low 20s. So lets be thankful we got a nice day.

25. It was great
None of my friends came with me, but I still felt very happy to be there even without a group. I liked the speakers and thought that the general focus on election fraud vs anti-Bush sentiment was good.. heard some other capital marches weren't so focused. The suppeortive passerby hinking was encouraging too.

My only complaint would be for the local media.. I watched at 10 pm on ABC, NBC and CBS... to be inundated with fluff pieces that weren't even latest news like the sotry of the march would be... and then there was the KEYE coverage of UT COnservatives group... maybe I am reading in to much, but if we didn't get coverage and that group did (which incidentally had no comparatively recent events) as a slap in the face by KEYE. Cause you all called them and told them about it...

Feel free to set me straight, yet again.. giving that girl any coverage is infuriating at the least.

28. 51 capitalmarch
I went to the march in Illinois. We had about 45 show. It was cold and windy but we were all into it. We had our signs and orange crape paper that we tied arownd our arms. We had someone that played songs on gutar and sang. I think more would have showed if it had been warmer.

29. Thanks for the report. That's a good showing!
Weather was pretty crummy everywhere except in Texas and Florda, it seems.

I think we all did a GREAT job considering how it was all word of mouth and with just a couple days of planning.

Shows the potential of what we can do when we need to.
