MEDIA BREAKTHROUGH: Boston Globe to cover Greene County lockdown
I was at the Boston rally today and relayed the Greene County info. A Globe reporter was there and asked me specifically about the stuff. I gave him the text of my speech, and just got off the phone with him. The Globe is going to cover this story tomorrow on their national page, he told me.

So there's that.

of this story.

Don't be ugly or rude - just ask for coverage. Nicely and sweetly. You know - show some interest in the story.

11. Katherine Blackwell pulls a Barney Fife and shoots himself in the foot by
doing something blatantly illegal, something EVERYONE can understand, thus drawing MSM coverage which the "partisan" and "debunked" fraud claims couldn't.

Thanks, Kath!

22. Question being: what will shrub to do divert attention...
Any guesses at what he will do in the morning to grab the headlines back?? Make more appointment announcements? Anyone else big resigning <The NASA guy is supposedly quitting>....not that the news people NEED a big or new story to get their attention diverted from shrub's activities...the Peterson punishment verdict will probably dominate the week's news coupled with Jackson's fingerprints on the porn mag. Then Friday is shrub's take-out-the-trash day.

I spoke by phone to one of the recount workers.
She verified that the lock down in Greene County had happened. She told me that on Saturday, the precinct office was left with the lights on and the doors unlocked. Police came and looked around. Then a man claiming to be from a lock company came, made a set of keys and left.

Read this article about the shutdown. Sorry for the dups but this is very important. This could well be the breakthrough that we've been needing.

17. Will Pitt Delivered "KICK A" Rousing Speech at Today's Rally!!!
on Boston Common. GREAT JOB WILL!!!

It was TOO COLD to take notes - seriously everyone's toes were about to fall off frostbitten after about an hour -

Will started with the Greene County lockdown story and followed with the Warren County lockdown story and it was off and running from there. On into the rally, he also read direct from his "Palm Pilot" the late breaking Conyers press release sounding alarm on the news of recent Greene County shenanigans much to the bravos, hoots and hollers of the crowd.

Met a couple of other DU'ers too. Hello to Sidney and daughter from the Cape :hi: and the gal with the family - :hi:

31. I was hanging out in back - I wanted to check out how many
people were there. A great variety of people it seemed.

It was Waaaaay cold out! :hi: selmo!

My parents loved it, and are absolutely amazed at what has gone on, and the grassroots power behind this movement to get the recounts/ investigations going.

There was a guy there with three little children and his wife, with signs, and he shouted out at one point (about Diebold) "They don't mess up our money!" That comment really affected my dad - he got the impression that man was really angry. (Which my father is as well). So I think it was freakin awesome for him to come!

Your children are adorable - and your husband really inspired my dad. Thank him for me! I was right to your right - black hat, black coat, red scarf. (Don't worry if you didn't see me). :)

I hadn't the faintest idea of how to tell who was from DU - and I was so cold I had to leave a little early. (I know I'm a loser for that - anything below 50 and I seem to freeze).

I run marathons in shorts and a tee shirt with gloves at 50 degrees. It is perfect. If the cold affects you so you need to talk to a DR about your metabolism. You need more exercise dude/dudette. IMHO.

Nope didn't get to meet rockedthevoteinMA - o well.

"Selmo" is just my DU name, not my "real" name. (I took the name from one of the supreme Goddesses in the Tibetan Tamang "bon" religious pantheon - Ghang Selmo Llamo - She is the Goddess of the Peacock Feathers)

104. Hi Selmo!
Sorry - I didn't know who was who. :(

I think part of it being so cold was the ground was so wet, and almost freezing. Windchill didn't help either.

But it was worth freezing for a bit to be there! Last time my mom went to a rally was in the early seventies, (she was 15), and saw jane fonda - in Ohio. She was telling me about it on the way to the rally today. It was great to get them there with me, because they agree something was funky with the selection, but I can't seem to describe it as well as everyone else did today. :hi:

24. So there's that! - a speech to live in history
William, your speech today in Boston was awesome. You have emerged as a great leader for us all. God bless you.

What is the name of the Boston Globe reporter, do you know? Was it Brian Mooney? I gave him an earful a week ago and I have sent him a great deal of material. Although he had begun by pooh-poohing the story, I believe (unless I am severely deluding myself) that by the end of our conversation I picked up a touch of listening and receptivity from him.

I seem to have communicated with him on two counts: (1) he has long suspected the reliability of electronic voting. On that basis, I pointed out, what is the source of this alleged 3.3 million majority for Bush, and his mandate? Where do these figures come from? (2) he felt that I was pressing him to "accuse" the Republicans of vote fraud, without proof or solid evidence. No, I wasn't, I explained: I was pressing him to offer vote fraud as one reasonable explanation for the many anomalies, such as the fact that all anomalies favored Bush, rather than dismissing it as a mere "conspiracy theory" and therefore invalid.

I forwarded Brian a copy of an article by a Temple University mathematician, who said like this: well, there are several different explanations for the exit poll skewing. Could be too many women in the polls, could be that Bush supporters were afraid to speak up, could be massive election fraud ... you know, an approach like that. I pointed out to him that his article in the Globe began and ended with the assumption that all anomalies were innocent errors quickly and cheerfully fixed. This, I argued, was highly biased reporting.

When I next heard from Brian, he said that he was on a week's vacation but had left a message with his staff to "stay on the story", particularly regarding the hearings. As we know, the hearings were not covered in the Globe (that I saw), or the New York Times.

Let's see if and where the story is covered in the Globe tomorrow. If it's there, will it be buried, or will it be front page news?

- Nina

And Will Pitt said he was interviewed by him and gave the reporter a copy of his speech. The speech included everything about the doors being unlocked etc. Try getting in touch with Will though if you have more info or something. It sounds like he is able to contact the reporter.

Now, why would the Globe cover this story, apart from the fact that they may be interested in news, not cr@p?

49. The World Is Watching
Germans KNOW Bush stole this election. They also feel less than half this country has made the same mistake they had made once before.

The good news though. is they are on our side.

I know... half my family is in Germany.

57. You are a democrat among men!
Much higher praise, in my book.

Thank you so much!

I read your draft and thought it brilliant. I made a (very late) suggestion about using the drama of Election night--which hit people so hard--re: telling the story of it (for those who don't know what happened with the Exit Polls)--but I forgot to say that I thought the speech was brilliant as written.

As it turns out, you were RIGHT to keep it current--that's what reporters would want (what's happening right now).

Thank you again! Prince among freedom fighters! (There was Lafayette after all!)

55. My first post, though I've been lurking a while.
I was there too, with my grown-up daughter. Will, your speech was just great. I've been reading Truthout for a long time and admire your work.

I'm really terrible at estimating numbers, but at its peak there seemed to be over a hundred people there. Anyone care to correct me?

And there was a little counter-demonstration over next to Tremont Street - someone waving a huge flag and about 6 people holding signs. They seemed pretty quiet. And we didn't want to give them the satisfaction of our notice, but we were wondering what the signs said.

60. Thanks very much.
Diving into these forums can be pretty intimidating, but I've been impressed by the generally supportive community here. I have diaried at Dkos some in the past, but am finding the site most un-sympatico at the moment. They are focused on different matters.

66. i know what you mean. this can be an intense place but its amazing
to know how many others all across the world, feel as you do. thats in short supply in the "real" world so almost no matter how you feel, you can find others here who feel as you do which can be a life saver.

i dont know what dkos is saying because i stay away from any other sites. i get my information from this site only to the point where i usually dont even click on the provided links. the threads usually contain portions plus the replies explain well enough so i get the gist. i cant even imagine after all this administration has done, that people who voted for kerry dont believe that bush is capable of literally anything.
du is crucial in that way....

the only thing to know, and im sure you do since you are familiar with the online forum thing, is that disputes can break out all over but if you can handle the debate and differences, then this is a place that is unequalled.

best wishes and hope to see you post for a long time. there have been a lot of new people recently and it takes getting used to but we need everyone!

56. Rove signals "V" for victory
Considering that Kerry was ahead in the polls, Karen Hughes had told W. that it was over and yet Rove flashes "v" signal to reporters ( tells friends they have won). What time did Rove do this? This has to reflect his confirming that the computers were shifting the votes, enough people had been scrubbed and forced into provisional voting, and the Warren lockdown had done its job.

Bottom line , Karen Hughes role was to Keep Bush close using her excellent spin techniques and Rove would shift enough votes to win. I don't think Hughes had a clue.

I would like to see Rove's phone records.

I guess, since the WH gave them the cold shoulder they are worried.

Is it that all our media blasts are fielded away (at reception) before they get to individual journalists in those organizations?

Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 07:15 PM by KoKo01
with the issues and talked to the participants...but I understand when you say..."So there's that..."

BTW: Chuck Herren (White Hat Hacker) and David Allen (Plan Publishing 9 who put out Bev's book) and the investigative reporter from Ashville Times...would make "interesteing" interviews because the three gave GREAT speeches to us gathered in Raleigh, NC Capitol Grounds about the dangers of "BBVOTING" and how long it's been going on. just a wee/small "heads up."

96. Agreed! Chuck Herren is a great speaker!
Chuck Herren is a computer security professional and gave a great speech about the insecurity of electronic voting. He said that he came to represent the non-neo-con-whacko wing of the Republican party, to "hold out an olive branch" to liberals. This is the first I've seen of a Republican standing up for integrity in the voting process and working to make verified voting the non-partisan issue that it should be.

I'm so amazed at what DUers can get done, even in this inhospitable climate. Of course, Will is a published author and writes often for Truthout, but there are others here who publish only on DU, as far as I am aware.

If there was fraud, it is vital that we find out. :)
