In the past ~ 24 hours, I have sent 15 fellow citizens a series of emails, essentially a running account of events since yesterday afternoon (PST), starting with the "Kerry 11 point demand."

None of those 15 individuals knew of what was happening. They all do now. They are outraged. They are forwarding my email reports (chock full of URLs to 'truthout,' DU, dKos, BradBlogToo, AfD, NVRI, Buzzflash, raw story, and more) to others.

This is how it must be done. If every person reading DU would start composing emails and sending to all friends, family, colleagues with the request that they forward to others, we can bring millions of our fellow citizens into full engagement with the issues.

Close each message with specific information about a petition to sign, Congressional representatives to contact (email address, fax, phone number).

Be clear on the objective -- we must halt this corrupt, vile, lethal attack on our franchise of democracy by 6 Jan 2005. No one can 'win' when citizens are suppressed from voting and when those who voted have no reasonable way of verifying that their vote was counted as they intended.

A broad awarnesss of facts that have been emerging from OH, of the testimony at Congressman Conyers' hearing in Columbus today is our responsibility to spread. We can prevail by being the ones who disseminate the facts and the methods to act on those facts.

We must lead; we must be the media; we must bring the warning to all our fellow citizens that we are being attacked from within -- a determined, lethal attack on our American franchise of democracy that must be halted by 6 Jan 2005.

No one is going to do this for us; we must do it for the sake of all our fellow citizens, for the sake of our endangered democracy.
