KY Repubs defy court ruling and constitution to win. Fraud.
This is one of the most blatant misuses of power I have ever seen. It is out and out fraud, and the GOP is doing it on purpose. I donated to her earlier as a Dean Dozen, and I will send a little more her way.

Here is Virginia Woodward's website where you can donate a little.

Kentucky folks have worked very hard to get their state back. So if you can help, please do.

Virginia Woodward, Democratic candidate for the open seat Kentucky 37th Senatoral District was selected by Change for Kentucky at the top of our "CFK 12" candidate endorsements. In July, she was selected as the only Dean Dozen candidate from Kentucky. Change for Kentucky chose Virginia for her truly courageous long-term advocacy for all Democratic rights in a state that regards Joe Lieberman as a northern liberal. Woodward, a health-care professional, served on the Women's Political Caucus, directed the Ky Commission on Women and ran in two state races before her district was gerrymandered away by the Republicans.

Woodward's opponent in November was "Democrat-turned-Republican" Dana Seum Stephenson, daughter of Dan Seum, the notorious KY Senator who himself betrayed the Democratic party and his constituency in 1999 by defecting to the Republican party, shifting the Senate to a gridlocked 19/19 tie.

On November 1, the day before the election, Virginia discovered the unexpected; Ms. Seum-Stephenson had resided in Kentucky for only two of the six years required by the Kentucky Constitution to run for the Senate.

She had in fact had bought and lived in a house, paid taxes, obtained a driver's license, sworn residency in a lawsuit and had voted for several years prior to 2002 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. In an abject power grab, the Kentucky Republicans rushed through a candidate who was not allowed to run for this office, and who legally did not represent the people of her district.

Virginia filed suit on November 1 and the Republican Party financed a "delay" court battle to force Virginia to stop her challenge (or go broke fighting). On November 22, Circuit Judge Barry Willett ordered the elections board not to count the votes cast for Ms. Seum-Stephenson and declared Virginia the winner of the election. The Kentucky Secretary of State is set to certify her victory on Monday.

It doesn't end there, of course. This week, Ms. Seum-Stephenson and the Republican Party defied the Kentucky Constitution and formally asked the right wing dominated Kentucky Senate to declare her the winner of the election and seat her as the new Senator on January 4. The Republican Party Chairman and the Republican Senate President are lining up Senate votes—and will no doubt get them. Senate Republican Leader David Williams, when asked about the Republican's blatant disregard of the Kentucky Constitution, said: "If anyone objects to us being in the majority, they have the chance to change that every two years when half of the Senate seats are up for election"

Republican hypocrisy knows no bounds, and now Kentucky has a constitutional crisis in the making. Republicans who always preach strict constitutional construction are now whistling a new tune. If the Republicans get their way, Virginia will not be seated and the case will go to the Kentucky Supreme Court. This means financial hardship for Virginia, as well as no representation for the 37th District. But Virginia is Dean Dozen candidate, and that means she is determined to fight. Change for Kentucky and Democracy for America are behind her all the way!
Virginia can still accept donations for her legal fund, and Change for Kentucky is doing its part to help her. For more information about Virginia's important fight, visit Change for Kentucky. Show your support of a Dean Dozen candidate who is still fighting!

2. I'm not good with understanding this kind of stuff, so this may appear to
be an idiotic question. Can't they impeach her or something for lying about her residency?

4. Here you go...The Repubs refuse to condemn her. Simply refuse.
UPDATE: As you may have heard, Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Barry Willett ruled on 11/22 that Virginia's opponent, Dana Seum Stephenson, DID NOT meet the residency requirement to run for the KY State Senate, and ordered the Board of Elections to not count her votes. Long story short: VIRGINIA WINS!

UPDATE 2: On Dec. 8, Ms. Seum-Stephenson and the Republican Party defied the KY Constitution and formally asked the KY Senate to declare HER the winner of the election and seat her as the new Senator on Jan. 4. Senate Republican Leader David Williams, when asked about the Republican’s blatant disregard of the Kentucky Constitution , said: “If anyone objects to us being in the majority, they have the chance to change that every two years when half of the Senate seats are up for election”

If the Republicans get their way, Virginia will not be seated, and the case will go to the KY Supreme Court. This means more financial hardship for Virginia, and no representation for the 37th District. But Virginia is Dean Dozen candidate, and that means she is determined to fight. Change for Kentucky and Democracy for America are behind her all the way!END SNIP

Their attitude: If you don't like replace us every two years. Unbelievable. They will just declare her the winner though she broke the law.

ANYTHING to get rid of idiots who say things like this:

"If anyone objects to us being in the majority, they have the chance to change that every two years when half of the Senate seats are up for election."

7. They forgot to mention we will never have another fair election so they
will always be in the majority. What a great example of republican's ideas of morals.

11. I used the front page of her website to pledge, thinking it was donating.
Was it donating? Instead of going to a secure site, I got a message that a form was being sent to me. I thought by email, but nothing yet. Anyone else try?
