Maxine Waters on Randi Rhodes: "We're going to go for it again!"
Just heard this on Randi Rhodes. Interview with L.A., Caif. Congresswoman Maxine Waters--the Rep. who was among those who approached the Senate in '00 with petition NOT to certify FLA Electors. She said Ohio election irregularities much worse than she thought, and "We're going to have to go for it again"!! --meaning, January 6, 2005, House members will again challenge this election!

I'll post more details below. I took good notes. Just want to get this word out fast.

Go, Maxine! Go, Conyers! Go, America! Bring these fraudsters to justice!

I heard Cliff Arnebeck (I think on Randi Rhodes) say that it will be the new congress to vote on the electors, so maybe Obama will do it!

Obama is an unlikely candidate to step forward. It is likely someone other than Obama would rise to the occasion.

14. E-mail your Senator, regardless of party.
Make sure that your Senator is informed of the magnitude of the fraud that took place in Ohio. Beg, beg, beg your Representative to protect the integrity of the vote.

DO NOT LET THIS REMAIN A SINGLE-PARTY ISSUE! IT IS NOT!

6. As another poster suggested last week, "reframe" the Senator problem.
Don't say to your Senators, "We hope you'll do this."

Say, "We'll be keeping track of every Senator who DOESN'T do this, and making them answer for it."

NGU.

40. Here's what some Oregonians are doing about that issue
I have posted this on some other threads on this same topic, but am going to post here too because I think getting a senator or several is one of the most important things we can do. Let's don't just go for one senator, let's go for as many as we can get! Safety in numbers. We all saw Fahrenheit 911; THIS time we know how it works!

http://www.dpo.org/news/documents/1780.html
The Oregon Democrats hand-delived this resolution Ron Wyden's aide and to our reps (Senator Smith's aide wouldn't meet with the Dems):

This is an excerpt from the resolution (see above link for entire text):

U.S. Representatives Earl Blumenauer, Peter DeFazio, Darlene Hooley, David Wu, and Greg Walden we encourage and support

-a public and aggressive participation, alongside Congressional Representatives Conyers, Nadler, Wexler, Holt, Scott, Watt, Baldwin, Miller, Slaughter, Filner, Lee, Meeks, Olver, and Schakowsky in calling upon the Government Accountability Office (GAO), to perform a timely and thorough investigation into all voting irregularities nationwide
-a public pledge to challenge the electors from any and all states where irregularities and possible fraud have surfaced

Senators Ron Wyden and Gordon Smith, we encourage and support

-a public pledge to step forward and concur with any such challenges to state electors brought by members of the U.S. House of Representatives

Americans need assurances that their elected representatives are working with steadfast determination to ensure every vote is counted.

Your efforts to this end may be difficult and will likely be challenged by those currently satisfied with the perceived election results. However, for those who believe that America's promise of "liberty and justice" and a counted vote "for all" MUST be honored, your efforts will be recognized as nothing less than heroic.

Respectfully,
Democratic Party of Oregon

AND

We are writing letters and making phone calls asking our senators to support "any challenge of the 2004 election brought by members of the House of Representatives."

AND

While letters are more effective, some people won't write, so this is a petition we are going to circulate and ask people who are involved with this issue to get five people to sign (or more if they want, but five is manageable even for busy people) and then send to our senators:

Dear Senator ________:

We, the undersigned citizens of Oregon, agree that a repeat of the betrayal of the 2000 election where no senator stood up to support the members of the House of Representatives in challenging the election outcome would be unacceptable.

We urge you to openly voice your support of any challenge of the 2004 election brought by members of the House of Representatives.

Respectfully,

(We feel that we need to bombard them with the message that a repeat of 2000 is not acceptable! Politely.)

11. I think she's great too , saw her speak once at my college however...
Edited on Tue Dec-14-04 06:18 PM by NNguyenMD
I have major problems with her stance on one particular local issue in her district, which I'm sad to say is racial politics being played at its worst, and it has to do with King/Drew Medical Center in LA. She defends King/Drew Hospital like its the most important community giving fixture in Southgate and Watts. That place has done more harm to that community than good, and for no other reason than shear corruption and incompetence. She's not the only one either, Jessie Jackson has also put his reputation on the line for that horrible place too. I hope they realize that just because its a high volume trauma center doesn't exscuse itself from delivering such substandard medical care. The underfunding excuse is another myth too, one of their biggest expenses is money used to settle malpractice lawsuits b/c of incompetent and unqualified doctors and staff, and their doctors and administrators take out salaries that are just through the roof. Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and Kings County Hostpial in Brooklyn New York are higher volume trauma centers, both serve vastly larger urban neighborhoods and their problems amount to no where near the astronomical damages that King/Drew Medical Center had done to those poor people who live in Watts and South Gate.

18. Look, we all have issues...
..with various politicians about various things, most of them very important--like this one. (I have serious issues with Sen. Kerry, too--and with my own Senators and Congressman.) But that isn't the point. We are talking here about our most fundamental right--our right to vote--and the very survival of our democracy. Please stay focused!

Again, I'm not dissing your issue. It may even help us understand what she does or doesn't do on the 2004 Election. Still, this horrible stolen election must be our primary concern right now. So...another forum, another time, ok? We cannot debate this here.

13. My fax to Congresswoman Waters
Honorable Maxine Waters
US Congress
By Fax – 202.225.7854

Subject: Mandatory, urgent need for broad communication

Dear Congresswoman Waters,

I just sent the following email to Congressman Conyers, and Mr Arnebeck & Bonifaz.

We need urgent, broad communications regarding the assault on our franchise of democracy. We have not one spare moment. We must have all our fellow citizens informed.

Thus, I've made a suggestion and I plead with you to contact Congressman Conyers and the two of you place a call to Oprah.

Thank you,

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

**********************************

Dear Congressman Conyers, Mr Arnebeck and Mr Bonifaz,

First, I am deeply grateful for all you are doing to try to save the American franchise of democracy. You, even better than I, understand that our democracy is under attack; all that our Constitution represents is being threatened with destruction.

I have a specific and urgent suggestion. You must get your message to all of America. And, I can think of no better way to launch that messaging effort than for you to request 15 min on Oprah. I do not watch tv/cable but I do know that of all the programs, the one with massive brand and an enormous audience, it is Oprah's show.

You should go on her show this week and tell all our fellow citizens how many were systematically prevented from voting. And, explain to them that none of us have a reasonable basis for concluding that our vote was counted as we intended (and, in fact, ~ 30 % of the votes have no mechanism for verification that they were even recorded correctly by the device the voter used).

We must get the message to our fellow citizens that the national election of 2004 is not over until 6 Jan 2005, but, that what we do know now gives us every reason to halt it, remedy the voting mechanism and re-vote. We must prevail.

Thank you,
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

17. More detail on Maxine Waters interview...
Today, Tues, Dec. 14, just before 3 pm (pacific time) on the Randi Rhodes Show (Air America): Maxine Waters intereview.

Rep. Waters said she'd just gotten back from the Ohio Conyers forum, and that Ohio irregularities were much worse than she realized,

including

extemely long lines for voting, with fewer machines provided than in previous elections, even though officials knew that voter registration had skyrocketed

one precinct - only about 600 voters, but 3,000 votes for Bush

polling workers begged for additional machines, none were provided; Blackwell said, despite the long lines in the rain, extra machines not needed--(Maxine: "nobody believes that.")

some machines didn't work

registered voters were refused the right to vote, due to "wrong precinct," but they were never notified of right precinct

92,000 votes with no vote for president, but voted lower ticket

various other issues mentioned, including the "Texas Strike Force" (people at Holiday Day Inn across the street from Repub hdqtrs, calling a list of former prisoners, telling them if they vote they go back to prison)

discussion of electronic voting - Rep. Waters: "I'm really worried about those machines." --mentioned the expert statisticians and their various studies of the impossible odds on Exit Polls varying so much vs. the official count (always in Bush's favor), and the 12:30 am flip of Exit Polls from Kerry to Bush, with no additional votes reported

mentoned the "startling" testimony about Feeney (affidavit re this FLA Rep. hiring programmer to write election fix program)

Rep. Waters: "Ohio must be recounted." She mentioned Blackwell's deliberate delaying of recount.

She said, with so many people registering complaints about the election, and so many calls, "It cannot be ignored."

She said, "We must have that debate (about 2004 election irregularities). Some of us are going to call for it. We're going to put them to the test."

Randi described Rep. Waters getting up before the Senate in '00, and, when not one Senator, Dem or Repub, would sign the black House members' petition, and the rules being rattled off to her, her saying, "I don't care about the rules!"

Rep. Waters: "We're going to have to do it again!" --meaning, YES, THEY ARE GOING TO CHALLENGE IT AGAIN IN CONGRESS, "F 9/11" deja vu!

I think that's who she meant, when she said," We're going to put them to the test." She meant the Senate Democrats--none of whom would support the House delegation in '00.

She also said she's going to talk to Kerry.

Randi asked, what should we do--flood Senators with letters?

Rep. Waters didn't say yes or no to this. She promised to keep Randi and listeners updated.

See my post: "Conyers asks for 1 million emails re: forum/hearing?" --which has some sample letters that can be re-tooled for this purpose (see revision at end).
