Is there one liberal Senator?

Here we go again. Those protesting the fraudulent election will need at least one Senator to sign their petition. In 2000 not a single liberal Senator could be found. Not one. Not Wellstone. Not Kerry. Not anyone. There was not a single Senator who was willing to sign on to the Congressional Black Caucus petition to challenge the electoral votes.

Now history repeats. There is clear evidence of widespread election fraud, particularly in Ohio, but also in many other states. So I've decided that I want to get rich. Ever hear somebody say, "If I had a nickel for every time that (whatever), I'd be rich?"

Okay, so you name the Senator who will sign the petition to protest the electoral vote this time, and if they actually do it, I will mail you a check for $1.00. That's one dollar, U.S. So, for example, if two hundred people say Senator Kerry will sign the petition, and he actually does it, I'm out $200.00 plus the cost of checks, envelopes and postage. But if two hundred people say that Senator Kerry will sign the petition and he DOESN'T, I get (if people are honest enough to pay up) $200.00--a dollar from each person who guessed wrong. It doesn't have to be Kerry. It can be Senator Boxer, or even Obama. Any Senator. This year could be different--there might be a lot of Senators who sign on, so all you have to do is name one of them. Just pick your liberal--the one you KNOW deep in your heart will stand up for our voting rights, and if you're willing to risk a dollar, just put your money where your mouth is and reply to this post with the name of your stand-up liberal.

We only need one. Many of us have been bombarding our Senators with requests that they sign. Somebody here has to have enough faith in at least one of them to wager a buck on it. C'mon people--I'm a senior on a low, fixed income, so even if you lose, your dollar is going to a good cause. And while it will cause me considerably hardship if I lose, I'll be so happy about having at least one Senator stand up for democracy, that I won't really care. Money, heck--I'd give my left arm at this point just to see it happen.

2. Where is the thread?
Because while I think Boxer is a good idea, I would also like to see us working on Kennedy, Leahy, and at least one moderate Republican.

3. thats a good deal for you since there are 49 ways to be wrong
and only one to be right.

Thanks but I'd rather spend the dollar on stamps to write letters encouraging senators to stand up.

5. It is not really a case of one Senator, but of a majority in both Houses

7. Why not Kerry or Edwards
Hell they have the most to lose by not doing so.

8. My guess: No one
No one stood up last time and no one will this time. There is less of a public outcry this time thn there was last time. If you think that there is a huge public sentiment about this, look at the pathetic turnout to the protest on Sunday.

I do not want your dollar, but I will certainly suggest a charity for you to donate to.

9. They need to do it as a group
Not one senator. All our senators, en masse.

(not that I think they will, but that's the best way for them to do it, both for their own careers, and for the good of the country.)

10. I'm not betting here, you understand
But if I were to bet, Boxer would be a good choice. She just won her third term and I think that's her limit. Doubt if she would run for another. She might do it just to make a splash in the history books... unless they kill her dog.

12. Byrd
I'm not betting my dollar, but I also hope/wish Byrd would be the one to stand up. He's retiring soon and loves causing trouble! ;)

13. Ted Kennedy, because...
...he has nothing to lose: he's a liberal, he's retiring at some point in the not-so-distant future, and he'll win re-election in Massachusetts no matter what he does.

Also, he and his constituents stand to gain a great deal of power, influence, and government resources if a fellow Bay Stater is inaugurated on January 20th.

Plus Bush screwed him over with the No Child Left Behind Act.

14. Good for you, nashuaadvocate!

I'm overawed to see that at least one person on DU has a dollar's worth of faith in a Democrat. I really hadn't expected it, and will be happy to send you the dollar if Kennedy does it.

I'll be looking forward to your 11th post.

Meanwhile, where are all the loyal, faithful Democrats with thousands of posts? Can't one of you name a single Democratic Senator whose integrity you respect enough to bet a dollar on?
