Letter to House Judiciary Committee asking for an explanation
This is letter to the HJC, to ask them how they can defend the petty, cynical and glaring partisanship of their Republican membership's refusal to participate in the investigation into the Ohio voter suppression and potential voter fraud issue.

Please feel free to borrow it and blast these guys with it!!

Dear Sirs,

Can you please explain to me why the Republican members of your committee are not participating in the Democratic membership's investigation into voter suppression and possible voter fraud in the 2004 Ohio general election?

From my point of view, investigation of suppression of voting rights and possible voter fraud is critical to ensure the integrity of the very foundation of our democracy -- fair and honest elections and the right to vote. Since this would not be the first time that voter fraud or suppression has ever occurred in this country (I should know, I am originally from Louisiana), it is not completely inconceivable that these criminal acts have occurred. Further, I am a computer programmer and I know how easy it is to hack computers.

I want the Republican members of your committee to remember that this is an entirely non-partisan issue. If the voting machines were hacked by someone -- these persons are not Republicans, nor Democrats or even Americans. They are merely criminals who have no respect for our democracy or the values on which this country was built.

After all, if no criminal activity is found, no damage is done and our democracy and the Republican members are no worse for wear. Your membership will simply have patriotically participated in assuring the safety and integrity of the voting process, which to me, is one of the most fundamental responsibilities you have as our representatives. As it stands now, your Republican membership simply seem petty, cynical and partisan politicians who are more concerned about party image than they are the security of the electoral process.

Finally, if it is found that vote tampering with these machines has, in fact, occurred -- we must remember that this discovery will tell us that our elections are insecure and available to be hacked not only by domestic criminals but by foreign saboteurs including terrorists. We must know the truth and be able to assure the American people of the safety of the electoral process.

I call upon your Republican membership to move past partisan politics and participate in this investigation which will provide this investigation the subpoena power it needs to fully investigate this matter critical to the faith of the American people in the foundation of our democracy, our right to vote.

My best regards,
