How about involving UNIONS?

I struck up an election related conversation with a guy the other day who, of course, knew nothing about it. I just happened to have an extra copy of the articles for the morning, printed off the internet (naturally). He read them and could not believe it.

He walked out saying: “Can I keep this?’ Yes, I said. “

Good, maybe I can get it my union newsletter.” (This guy is a union steward.)

This guy was a letter carrier.

How many unions are there X how many union members. ?

And remember: unions don’t like Bush.

1. Unions were involved this fall
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 11:19 PM by LincolnMcGrath
but not very coordinated. I had many a screamin matches with some labor leaders this election cycle. I wanted members not working (on the bench) to get there asses down to the headquarters and help out. Leaders didn't like being told how to coordinate their members.

2. Unions are involved,

although they're not able to deliver 100% of their members' votes to the Dems, it is a high percentage. The union leadership is anti-*, and for the most part, communicates their position well to their members. The problem, as I see it, is that most unionized jobs are being outsourced. There are fewer and fewer unionized workers every year because of this. And, of course, this administration is doing everything it can to eliminate unions altogether. Soon, I fear, there will be so few union members that their voices will be practically unheard.

4. No.
I think they are following the "lead" of the Dem leadership.

5. Right around 11/9 or so someone posted a Union announcement
saying that the MSM was not covering questions of fraud.

So you might have a good idea.

When I get back in a little while, I'll look for that post.

12. Can't search the archives.
I remember this post clearly because it was one of the most impressive pieces of evidence I saw to tell others that even real live union people thought the election was rigged and that the media wasn't covering it. It was short. I don't know if it was an OP or a post in a thread. I was new to DU then in the days after the election.
It was a copy of a short announcement that must have been in a union newsletter or something.
Skinner says that maybe the search archives feature will be returned on weekends. I'll try then.

6. Instant numbers, and they have serious reasons to be worried about
an election theft that may ultimately make it tougher on them in the outsourcing battle.

I have no good contacts with uniions, but if we could compile some packages to send to union leaders pointing out the overwhelming evidence here, we might get some big numbers involved.

7. That's what I was thinking.
MANY of us chat with our mailmen at work. Why not pass something along, with a copy for their union steward and ask them to call us? I do the same thing with my FedX guy - - do you know how many people he sees in a day?? I think this could increase our numbers and our organization very quickly.

When I searched my city for unions, about 8 phone numbers came up right away for people I could contact by phone.

I think this is worth trying.

8. Something like
17 percent of the work force in union, down from a high of around 40% forty or more years ago. I'm feeling too lazy to do a google search to find out the exact numbers.

Union membership has been declining steadily for a very long time ago. There's a powerful anti-union sentiment in this country, and too often people have no clue that the only reason we have a minimum wage, a 40 hour work week, overtime pay, and a weekend not to mention paid holidays and vacation time is because of unions.

9. Well, my letter carrier was very much against * before the
election. As a steward he's a pretty intense guy about this stuff. I think union people may generally be LESS apathetic, but more mainstream - so they haven't been hearing about all this craziness.

I found this site:
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/union2.toc.htm

I'm at least gonna sniff around it and see if I think there's any possibilities.

Free advertisement also...

Speaking of advertising, we could advertise in magazines, Online newsletters, other websites, newspaper inserts etc etc

We really need to get the word out. So many people don't know this election was stolen.

ON edit: They have succefully stolen it yet. Which is why we need those some of those sixty million people angry.

13. I contacted the UAW on Monday
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 02:28 AM by proudbluestater
I sent the letter to the media that was posted here, after omitting the relevant media info, and emailed it to Region 1A in the Detroit area. It represents 150,000 auto workers. I added "we may need some guys to go down to Ohio and kick butt." Never heard back from them; they probably think I'm a crackpot. :eyes:

My brother is a UAW member. On election day, in a predominantly African American city, the UAW came to the polls and "protected" the voters from the overzealous Repuke polls interferers. They also provided rides to and from the polls.

I can tell from talking to my brother that election fraud has not come up in conversation, at least at his location. I think the "news" has not reached the unions. If you go to their different websites you won't find anything about fraud on their home pages.

We really should make a concerted effort to involve them. I think of the woman who was run off the road. Those union folks would be up in arms over that and the Ohio members would probably show up in droves to help out.

14. I guess I'll try calling a few numbers today and see
if they show any interest. I'll post here if I have any luck.

I think you are right. Union people are used to tactics trying to discourage their efforts - it just makes them stronger.
