True Majority new forum - 16+ threads on election fraud! PLEASE KICK!
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 12:22 AM by helderheid
They want to know what we want them to tackle - well by GOD let them know!!

If you're not familiar with True Majority, they are slightly smaller than MoveOn but far more progressive - started by Ben Cohen of Ben and Jerry's (who endorsed Dennis Kucinich for President):

widespread election fraud perpetrated
by the Republicans and their corporate allies.

Why helderheid! How delightful to find out a group almost as big as MoveOn is willing to listen to their supporters via a forum as to what is important to them and even more delightful to find out almost all the threads on the "election activities" are about election fraud! My my, imagine if all DUers interested in election fraud were to participate, what a voice we might have with True Majority!

16. Done! Kick!
I went there earlier tonight, and got into an exhausting, strange loop about registering, but I managed to join one forum--something about geographical organization. I suggested audits of all states' election results are needed now, and soon after Jan. 6, highly focused local state and county groups to achieve, a) a paper trail, and b) open source code. (Congress isn't going to do it!)

I get impatient with progressives who think they can "address the issues" with Diebold-ES&S-TRIAD owning the SECRET source code that controls tabulation of all our votes, and controlling all these highly hackable voting machines. Jeez. The illusion that the Left/Center can ever regain power in these circumstances, or can influence Bush Inc. in any way, needs to be broken through. Wake up, Brothers and Sisters!

17. Thanks all! here's the TM request I got
in my inbox earlier:

Please Share Your Ideas with Us
Yes, the elections went the way they did, but a new day (or at least a New Year) is dawning and we’re in the midst of our annual planning process here at TrueMajority. So we’d like to know what types of things you’d like your organization working on in 2005.

We’d like your ideas on issues, on organizing geographically, on campaigns, on partnering, on online and in-person activities. Share whatever ideas you have on how TrueMajority can better serve your needs, provide you with information or opportunities to organize.

We’ve cooked up a way to do that online. It’s fast, easy, anonymous if you’d like…and you can react to the ideas other TrueMajority members have offered so that the ones that make the most sense to the most people can bubble to the top.

So please take a few minutes and let us know what’s on your mind. Just click here:

http://truemajority.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x
From the people in the back room who want to know what you think,

The TrueMajority Crew

25. Agreed there are opportunities
for any org willing to take on all aspects of votergate as their main issue. I think serious efforts to do something about this crisis, starting now--will find lots of support. It may be newer groups that rise to the moment. Those that can mobilize more quickly. The "otherwise occupied for whatever reasons" orgs will lose those of us who have drawn the line in the sand.

Thanks for original post on this--I'm making a list of progressive orgs and media I want to actively support from now on.

46. Done. Here is what I posted. And, what have you planned to do on 06012005?
<understandinglife> posted 17 December 2004 11:52 PM

What will you be doing on 06012005? What will your representatives in the 109th US Congress be doing?

Don't ask. Tell them. They work for you and it is time we remind ourselves and them that that's the drill.

Here is a letter I urge you to cut/copy/sign and fax to each of your HR and Senate representatives in the next 24h -- send it to their local State offices not just to their DC office.

++++++++++++
Dear __,

Having reflected, all day, on the exceptional dKos Diary "Folks Don't Get It" by shanikka, my resolve to see the 'national election of 2004' halted on 6 Jan 2005 transformed to "do or die."

You should read what she had to say and what it elicited from others:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/12/15/9734/4841

I have sent the following message to several colleagues and want to share it with you so you can know what to expect and why we are corresponding with you now.

We are requesting that millions of our fellow citizens be in DC on 6 Jan 2005.

We will join, together on that day, with you and all responsible members of the HR and the Senate and together we will halt the fraudulent national election of 2004.

We will halt demonstrate, together, in the largest ever display of unity in support of our Constitution.

We will conclusively assert that "we the people" will not tolerate anything but a HALT to the farce, the brutal, systematic attack on our fellow citizens in their effort to "form a more perfect union" -- to vote and know their vote was recorded as they intended.

Together, we will forge a remedy to the situation that provides to each of our fellow citizens who are eligible to vote an equitable access to do just that -- vote. We will ensure that each voter has a mechanism to ensure that their vote is counted exactly as they intend it to be.

We will save our American franchise of democracy.

We will then vote, together, for the 44th President and Vice President of the USA and we will all know, beyond reasonable doubt, that whomever receives the most votes is the elected representative of our Nation.

We will bring joy and hope to all of humanity because of our actions between now and 6 Jan 2005, and every day thereafter.

We will never forget the peril to our Constitution, our freedom that we confronted together and resolved -- we will have lived and sacrificed in the honor of all whose ideals and sacrifices have graced each of us and for whom we now must prove our gratitude.

We will prevail.
++++++++++

Thank you -- and TrueMajority -- why don't you mass mail this request to all your members. Sure appreciate it if you do.

"I'm a patriotic American, not a pro-fraud theocrat"

56. Analysts say a pattern of fraud has been seen on Touchscreens is Bush def
default

One pattern that is developing based on the experience of voters in Florida, New Mexico, Ohio, and elsewhere(especially swing states) is the the machines appear to have been set with a default to Bush. Then if a voter successfully punched the ballot for another candidate, Bush was replaced by that candidate. But it appears that in many cases the voter did not successfully accomplish this and in some cases it was hard or impossible to get the other candidate to register. This was a major problem in Mahoning county in Ohio, and possibly Mercer, but also occurred in many counties and several states. They had to replace some of the machines in counties like Mahoning after repeated attempts by techs to "recalibrate" the machines after widespread reports of problems. This also happened in Florida and New Mexico. But this means that Bush would get not only the votes of those who didn't notice that the punched candidate didn't register but any intentional non votes or accidental non votes or unsuccessfully completed votes. Quite an advantage. As much as 2 to 4% in some areas and even more perhaps in some minority areas.

Ohio counties: Mahoning, Fairfield, maybe Mercer
