Olbermann interacts with Congressman Conyers: Personal commitment
Earlier today, Congressman Conyers joined Mr Olbermann on "Countdown."

I posted a brief "transcript" of Congressman Conyers comments here:

http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2004/12/15/191632/54/111#111

Mr Olbermann has posted the following:

"The ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee told us tonight on Countdown that he and others in Congress are considering formally challenging the slate of electors who cast Ohio's votes, when those votes are opened and counted before a joint session of Congress on January 6th.

"We're prepared to do that," Conyers said. "And we understand the law as well as you." After the on-air interview ended, the Michigan representative added that he and his colleagues had not yet decided whether or not to take the extraordinary constitutional step, and he had not sought the support of a Senator who would have to co-sign the challenge." (more at the link):

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/

Having reflected, all day, on the exceptional dKos Diary "Folks Don't Get It" by shanikka, my resolve to see the 'national election of 2004' halted on 6 Jan 2005 transformed to "do or die."

I sent the following message to several colleagues:

We truly need millions of our fellow citizens in DC on 6 Jan.

I know we will join, together on that day, with responsible members of the HR and the Senate and halt the fraudulent national election of 2004.

We will halt it on 6 Jan 2005. That MUST BE THE TARGET DAY for the most massive demonstration in American history -- a demonstration that asserts conclusively that "we the people" will not tolerate anything but a HALT to the farce, the brutal, systematic attack on our fellow citizens in their effort to "form a more perfect union" -- to vote and know their vote was recorded as they intended.

We will remedy the situation by providing to each of our fellow citizens who are eligible to vote an equitable access to do just that -- vote.

We will ensure that each voter has a mechanism to ensure that their vote is counted exactly as they intend it to be.

We will save our American franchise of democracy.

We will bring joy and hope to all of humanity because of our actions between now and 6 Jan 2005, and every day thereafter.

We will never forget the peril to our Constitution, our freedom that we confronted together and resolved -- we will have lived and sacrificed in the honor of all those whose ideals and sacrifices have graced each of us and for whom we now must prove our gratitude.

We will prevail.

Peace.

"I'm an American patriot, not a pro-fraud theocrat" -- and, you betcha I approve of this message and will die making it stick, if that is what must happen.

3. Did someone say that the senator can NOT be either Kerry or Edwards
since they are involved? I was listening to a liberal radio guy earlier who had a caller who suggested these two sign. He was turning the host onto the idea that it was not too early to be thinking about such things.

7. There is no reason at all it can't be Kerry & Edwards...
...and ALL the Democratic Senators for that matter.

In fact, that's my dream! --that first Kerry stands up and signs, then Edwards, then every one of the Democratic Senators, in honor of the black voters who stood out in the rain for 10 hours to vote for them this year, and whose abuse by Republican election officials in Ohio and Florida, 40 years after the Voting Rights Act--with all the decades and decades and decades of lynchings and beatings and rapes and systematic exclusion and slavery and poverty and other untold grief that led to that law--that this could go on again THIS YEAR has been an utter disgrace to our nation!

Stand up and be counted, Senators! Now is the moment!

10. Thank you for this link and I am open to suggestions...
...as to how to get a broad participation, here on DU, and elsewhere in a strategy that focuses, not on inauguration or any other day, but 6 Jan 2005.

And, the most efficient mechanism to extend the petition effort to ALL Senators similar to the one already underway to convince Senator Boxer to step forward.

Thank you.

12. Make it an international, anti-war, protest Bush day....
considering the size of the international protests in the past, this might fly, and then the media would have to cover it.

11. I am so proud of our bunch of DU patriots.
I will be up front about this...I don't think I can be there on JAN 6. I live in KC and I just don't know what I can do job-wise and expense-wise.

However, to those of you that are within a days drive or can take the train in from NYC...please gather together and let the rest of the nation see your patriotism and dedication to democracy.

This is so very important.

I've been out on the streets here in KC for the past 4 weekends and have done a fair share of letter writing and nothing would make me happier than to stand with you on Jan 6. I may get there yet.

13. Mission accomplished in Ukraine---we MUST follow their
example.
KO said 20% feel that that there was fraud committed in thIs election. If you calculate 20% of those who only those who voted Nov 2, you still come out with approximately 22,000,000 people.
I know a protest of millions is possible here in the US.

15. Someone asked me "Is it a hopless fight" -- and, my response...
....is NO.

It is an absolutely essential fight.

If even one Senator 'stands' with one or more members of the House of Representatives and challenges we will have achieved comprehensive, world-wide focus on what is, beyond any question today, a fraudulent national election. We have more than adequate evidence for directed, systematic disenfranchisement.

In addition, we know that many of our fellow citizens have no mechanism to ensure that their vote was counted (recorded) as they intended -- because of the type of device they were required to use.

So, if we have members of the Senate and the HR challenging the election, we will have forced a nation-wide recognition that those who are the government under our current Constitution -- the people -- have not participated in a fair and legitimate election.

What happens after that moment is purely speculative, but one thing is certain, almost every citizen will participate in real-time, reality-based 'civics class' unparalleled in American history and that will be a good thing -- we might actually find that 'we the people' refuse to have an 'election' stand that cripples our Constitution and installs a shame 'government.'

Peace.

19. Precisely! And, everyone, what are you DOING on 06012005?
Please start by copy/paste/print and fax the following to the local offices of your HR and Senate representatives in the 109th US Congress. And, remember they work for you; tell them precisely what you want them to do on 06 Jan 2005:

&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Dear __,

Having reflected, all day, on the exceptional dKos Diary "Folks Don't Get It" by shanikka, my resolve to see the 'national election of 2004' halted on 6 Jan 2005 transformed to "do or die."

You should read what she had to say and what it elicited from others:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/12/15/9734/4841

I have sent the following message to several colleagues and want to share it with you so you can know what to expect and why we are corresponding with you now.

We are requesting that millions of our fellow citizens be in DC on 6 Jan 2005.

We will join, together on that day, with you and all responsible members of the HR and the Senate and together we will halt the fraudulent national election of 2004.

We will halt demonstrate, together, in the largest ever display of unity in support of our Constitution.

We will conclusively assert that "we the people" will not tolerate anything but a HALT to the farce, the brutal, systematic attack on our fellow citizens in their effort to "form a more perfect union" -- to vote and know their vote was recorded as they intended.

Together, we will forge a remedy to the situation that provides to each of our fellow citizens who are eligible to vote an equitable access to do just that -- vote. We will ensure that each voter has a mechanism to ensure that their vote is counted exactly as they intend it to be.

We will save our American franchise of democracy.

We will then vote, together, for the 44th President and Vice President of the USA and we will all know, beyond reasonable doubt, that whomever receives the most votes is the elected representative of our Nation.

We will bring joy and hope to all of humanity because of our actions between now and 6 Jan 2005, and every day thereafter.

We will never forget the peril to our Constitution, our freedom that we confronted together and resolved -- we will have lived and sacrificed in the honor of all whose ideals and sacrifices have graced each of us and for whom we now must prove our gratitude.

We will prevail.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Peace.

25. I tried that in the "general discussion" section yesterday evening...
....here is the link:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2840897&mesg_id=2840897

If you think I should place a new post in the 'election 2004' area, I am happy to do it.

What I would really like is for the moderators of DU to consider a general call to focus of the entire community on 06 Jan 2005 -- essentially an 'discussion forum' dedicated specifically to what we do between now and 6 Jan 2005 to bring maximum attention to the reasons why the 109th US Congress should halt the national election of 2004. That way we could separate general discussion of the 2004 election from focused discussion and coordination of activities directed at saving our franchise of democracy, now.

What do you tink?

Thank you.

26. I would put one in Activism and also in here.
I would also rewrite it to include the link to the redefeat bush rally

http://www.redefeatbush.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=218

and the stuff up at http://www.51capitalmarch.com especially around "Save Our Votes" March on Washington: January 2nd to January 6th.

The mods probably won't do it, they pretty rarely buy in on specific causes. You could ask, in Ask the Admins. Probably they will say "Activism" forum is the place to go. Post em and I'll try to help keep it kicked! :)

23. Michael Moore. Have you emailed him about Jan. 6?
He would write one of his famous article and post it on his web site. HE could pull a huge crowd. Martin Sheen is a great idea too. Ben Affleck? He campaigned for Kerry. ALL of the AAR hosts. Randi, Malloy and Laura Flanders will tell their viewers to BE THERE! All the AAR hosts should be there too. Whoopy Goldberg? Rob Reiner? Foreign press?
