If I were a Kerry adviser right now
This is what I'd do.

Continue in stealth mode until approximately Monday Jan. 3rd, about 2 days before the Senate meets to cerify the electors.

AT that time, I'd alert the media of an announcement.

At the announcement, Kerry announces that they have discovered widespread evidence that both suppression and fraud occured in the election. He feels it is his duty and responsibility to show the information they have uncovered to the american people and to the legislators, and let the people decide what to do about it. A brief description of the key points. And an announcement of a televised "forum" that will lay out the evidence and facts in more detail.

Now instead of making himself vulnerable to Rove's "sore loser" attack, he should at the beginning address it directly: "My fellow Americans, there are those who will say I'm just being a sore loser. But the evidence that my team of lawyers has uncovered is so strong that I feel it is my duty to present it to you, the people who voted on election day. When you've seen the evidence, you can decide if the evidence is strong enough to do something about it. And you can decide if I am being a sore loser, or a person who cares about our democracy."

Then a chunk of time on national TV has to be set up, probably on CSPAN. It could be similar to what we've seen at the Conyers hearings, but this time EVERYONE will be watching. It'll be OJ Simpson all over again. But get this. Because it's not a trial, it's just a "forum" they don't have to let let Rove's cronies lie on camera. I say, don't even invite Blackwell this time. Just let the experts, the witnesses, and the lawyers do their thing.

At the end of the "forum" Kerry comes on and again explains that he wants the people to decide what to do about this. He explains the one opprtunity for the election to be contested on the 6th, and how it could only happen if a lot of senators and congresspeople were asked to do so by their constiuents.

Then we spend the next two days as if they were 11/01 all over again. And then some.

Then we sit back and see what happens.

This way, Kerry gets to make his case, and he doesn't have to stick his neck out too far. He rightfully puts it in the hands of the American People.

2. what exactly are you waiting for?
The Kerry team is fighting already.

They are avoiding a media blitz, which is good.

4. WOW - This is exactly what I've been thinking they should do...I say we
write to them and tell them to do this...I'm serious....

I also have been a believer that this is what is going to happen (or something similiar)...My husband thinks I'm delusional, but I told him its not over....

6. It could work -
but only with the proper foundation.

If there is a critical mass of informed people ready to fan the flames we could witness another BURNING BUSH!!

7. I've thought similiarly.. TIMING...
AFTER X-mas 1st of all.. and if you do it close enough to the 6th you greatly limit the repugs media machine to spin. I like the here are the facts America.. what shall we do approach. I think it would have been a bad idea to contest this from the start. The stateof the media is not 1 of facts, there is no investigating reporters to speak of, so when Kerry has the facts himself, he can present them.

Either way.. I am planning and promoting EVERYONE to be in DC on the 6th!

8. I like the cut of your jib GB...
... and will pray that it comes to pass.

Nothing like the power of positive thought at times like these.

Visualising how we win is a key step in the path to doing so.

Cheers

10. Sounds like a plan
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 05:23 AM by Bill Bored
Kerry should appear with as many backers as he can find too. House Reps, Senators, from both parties and/or independents. Cobb and Badnarik if they're willing. There has to be at least ONE Republican, or some ex-Republicans who will stand with him. There are also Kerry's supporters from the military and diplomats and so on. And of course Conyers, the Congressional Black Caucus, Jerry Nadler, etc.

But they all need to become informed. It's possible some are not at this point.

And for heaven's sake, has anyone talked to John Glen yet??? He's from Ohio! So is Gerold Ford. Maybe Jimmy Carter can drag him into this thing, or they'll be asked to work on the Blue Ribbon investigation together.

Any other ideas?

12. Sounds about right to me.
Kerry has already made it clear he is paying attention and willing to file. When the time comes, if the evidence is right, he will do the right thing.

15. Another piece for your story
Arnebeck and Kerry have been very good buds for a long time. Arnebeck's suit and strategy says clearly he's been putting this thing together for a long time, too. And the WHOLE point of the suit is to demonstrate that Kerry won the election. If Kerry really wanted to disrupt the forward momentum of his re-election, he'd be finding a way to stop the suit, and he's not. So, what conclusion: there is a real strategy afoot! And your forum senario is the cherry on top of a pretty tasty cake.

18. It would help if he had evidence of fraud....
Which I doubt he does.

If I were a Kerry advisor, I would probably still be on a drunker bender right about now.

I'd keep my damn mouth shut. Too many folks (Mary Beth Cahill) telling tales out of school. Makes us all look bad.
Shut up.... walk softly... carry a big stick.
