Bus/Carpool to D.C. 1/06/2005?
Does anyone know of any websites or forums that are setting up carpools or bussing to D.C. for Jan. 6th? Maybe we could set up a forum with a thread for each state or something...

I really want to go, but I got hit by a truck a few weeks ago and haven't been able to work (or walk...) so I can't afford to fly out.

1. Holy shit!
You got hit by a TRUCK? Sorry about that. I hope you're ok now. As for carpools or bussing on Jan 6th, I have no info regarding that but I am trying to get out of work so I can make plans to go.

Kicking this thread for now..

3. Yeah, but...
Trains are expensive, too.

I was hoping someone would be organizing something because that will get more people going.

Craigslist has a ride-share board also if you can't find something on drivingvotes.

9. Thanks!
I signed up on Craiglist.

Drivingvotes only has stuff for the inauguration.

I'm in Boise right now and the political climate is killing me. You wouldn't believe the talk radio line-up out here. Ah, I miss MN in the Wellstone days.

no info on their website to sign up for a ride, only to organize. I'm thinking of going myself from TX if I can get there.

12. This is not an unusual or unreasonable request
Jan 6 is an odd day...it falls in the middle of the week. And, it comes right after the holiday season, when a lot of us take vacation to be with our families.

So, in my own situation, I will need to drive from Pittsburgh for that day and drive back so I can be back at work on the following day.

It would be so helpful if a carpool were available in my area as I know this kind of driving pressure will be hard to deal with.

But, if not, I am planning on going anyway. It is that important.

18. Amtrak has service from Pgh...
to D.C.

Union Station is very convenient to the Capitol building.

An alternative is to come nearby the night before and take a MARC train from an outlying city. Many stations have free parking, but, many stations have parking problems. I suggest Frederick Md. or Martinsburg W.Va. The hotel will be cheaper and you won't have to find parking in downtown DC.

13. Thanks for putting this question out there Shiina, I wanted to
look into this ride thing too. Hey, how's your healing process coming along? What kind of truck? Bless your heart. Sounds horrible. I know where there's a will, there's a way and you will find out how to get there on the 6th. I recently was reading about Wellstone. He was sterling eh? Tragic "accident" that caused his death.

15. Donate your frequent flyer miles if you can't go, someone else can..
When i was supporting Howard Dean in the primary, if someone couldn't make it to a Dean event and had frequent flier miles they would arrange to donate a ticket so others could go. I am sad to say i myself have none. Hope this can get a few more to DC.
