Bush gets same percent of gay vote as in 2000 |
|
http://www.advocate.com/new_news.asp?ID=14270&sd=11/03/04So Karl Rove manages to rev up evangelical Christians with the gay marriage issue while not losing any gay support. Talk about a win-win for the GOP.

to recall the movie "The Pianist" The Germans couldn't have accomplished the ghettoization of the Jews without the willing participation of a minority of the Jews themselves. They formed police units, and administrative groups. They were as brutal, or perhaps more than the Germans, arguing that it was better for the Jews to control their own fate, than to have the Germans do it. The logic was faulty, of course, but the underlying impulse of individual survival by those who helped to oppress their own was too powerful to ignore. In the end, all perished, because, just as a rising tide lifts all boats, a flushing toilet flushes all t..ds. The F.gs for * believe that they will be immune, but they will be swept away along with the rest of us gays. I would leave this country in a heartbeat, but I'm too old and ill to have anyone take me. The irony of being able to see a haven (Canada) from my own home and knowing that it is OUT OF REACH is very painful. Things are going to get very ugly for gays here, make no mistake. They will be the first, but by no means the last, group demonized by the fundies. I hope that my illness takes me before this happens.

Why did so many vote for him?
What about Arabs? In my experience they tend to have a bit of an edge on being informed... but not much. How did their percentages go?

And I quote: "I just love George Bush. He has a dog just like ours!" (referring to him and his partner)
How the fuck do you stand against such reckless stupidity?

12. Well, aquaintance may be a better term.... |

He's a fairly decent person for the most part. Works. Doesn't party. In a very long term relationship. Is a great carpenter.
But I have to admit that comment pretty much ended any chance of a close friendship.

14. I'd say the same if I really thought he was into politics.... |
|
...I don't think he really pays attention to what is going on in the world around him. He has his own insulated world and I honestly don't think he really looks outside of that.
Come to think of it, it might explain many of those gays who do vote republican. Not to make excuses, but there are a large portion of gay people who have built their own private little world and don't venture outside it enough. Perhaps you could call it an advanced form of narcissism.

7. And after bin Laden hits us again and Bush is pushing his anti-gay plans |
|
"I think that the difference for many gay voters was the war on terrorism," said Patrick Guerriero, executive director of the gay political group Log Cabin Republicans. "They went to the ballot box and voted on broader issues." Guerriero said that a year and a half ago--before the Federal Marriage Amendment became a cultural lightning rod--he estimated that upwards of 40% of gay voters would have picked Bush."

How low is this country going to stoop? maybe gays won't vote Republican after they are lined up and killed by the NRA to satisfy the Evangelical Zealots.
